shit like this makes me want to get dayz.
that must've been so cool for that guy to run into Dyslexci in the wilderness. it's like meeting someone from a legend in the world of the game.
I might actually buy now, I didn't see any bugs like I expected to
Something about these types of 'anarchy survival' games brings the best and worst out of people.
I want to play games like these but I'm usually too damn nice and end up getting taken advantage of I can't bring myself to be a self preservational douche in games for some reason, especially if the investment is so high.
I didn't think Dslyexci would be playing this, pleasant surprise.
shit like this makes me want to get dayz.
Then you see the hackers, griefers, and large amount of bandits.
His commentary is nice and non invasive to the game play, might watch more of his vids

I'd just had a friend run to meet me near a barn when we started getting shot at from a nearby bush. For some reason he started throwing flares, which I was berating him for. He went and got himself killed. I started running south and thought I'd got away, when I started taking fire again. I took cover and flanked around a bush, to find the shooter looking at my previous position. I shouted "Surprise, motherfucker!" on direct speech, and shot him Dslyexci was killed
You should, his non-helicopter vids are fantastic.
His helicopter vids are fantastic too. If you've played as a pilot in an ArmA 2 mission anywhere near the scale of Shack Tactical's, you'd know how much of a responsibility it is. With the crazy maneuvers he pulls off, there really isn't any margin for error either. I'd have no chance of doing the same shit he does, and wouldn't dream of trying it - and he does it with a mouse and keyboard!

I hear what people say on the radio and I think "Well I'm way more interesting in what's going on down there" and then I watch from the guys on the ground's perspective and it's way more interesting.
Here's the other DayZ SA video he made
This is the appeal of the whole DayZ-like genre but it currently just doesn't work, I've logged like 400 hours in the mod and moments like these are few and far between. People are mostly assholes. Sure I can remember the great time I had teaming up with two random people in the middle of a field to hunt down a sniper that was toying with us, sneaking around while getting past the language barrier and trying to organize, and the glee of ambushing the fucker, killing him, splitting the loot and parting our ways, but I'm not going to drop $30 on an unfinished game for the chance of something like that happening again.
I might actually buy now, I didn't see any bugs like I expected to
I've played for 99 hours and in all that time, apart from some desync issues, I've only encountered a few bugs, none of which were major. Once, I was stuck in a wall. I just rejoined the server and was out of it. Another time, I broke my leg on a ladder, sucked, but no big deal. Lastly, my character was wiped one time. All that in 99 hours. Not too buggy for an alpha. I was in a group of 6 last night, and we found some weirdos doing some bizarro ritual with a prisoner north of Berezino. They were dropping rags around him and running around in circles around him. We took the guys out, and as soon as we started firing, one of the guys doing the ritual shot the cuffed guy in the head. Part of the appeal is that the game is so boring for most of it. You find ways to entertain yourself over skype/voip until everything goes to hell and then it's massively intense.

The experience of these situations would be nothing without the constant threat of other bandits and assholes. If we were all so friendly in this game then the game would be extremely boring. PvP is a MAJOR part of it and without it you wouldn't even have the few friendly encounters you do. You might as well play the ArmA roleplay mods.
I'll say what I say every time when DayZ is brought up; The first game I had I got 8 complete randomers to work together in Elektro, we all moved as a big group to and through Chernarus. Without the PvP element it wouldn't have been anywhere near as fun since we encountered a couple "bandits" along the way. We had enough manpower that the zombies weren't much of a threat. Another time, I teamed up with a guy and found a VW Golf which we drove up to the NW Airfield. We got into the control tower and heard our car being started up. Then, we started taking fire from the fire station, with one guy trying to make his way up to us. My buddy died but I killed the other two, and once it was all over I had to peg it outta there with no transport. At yet another point in that same life, me and about 6 others had a base in the Black Castle, East of the NW AF. Stood at the top of the tower, I saw a couple guys coming in from the West, and a big firefight ensued. The guy had a Mk-48 and we were both trading shots at each other, shit was intense. Another time, when I was playing with the NwA Project Reality clan, we landed our chopper in the dock of the town West of Chernogorsk to refuel, when we were set upon by 3-4 bandits who wanted to steal it. That was some fucking adrenaline shit right there, we killed them off but not without losing one of our guys. We had a base on the Berezino docks with 2 Hueys, lots of barricades and a shitton of military grade weapons. If there were no risk of it all being taken by other players, it would've been pretty much pointless. Yes, PvPers like the one in the video who just kill on sight for the sake of killing are arseholes, but a lot of interesting shit can happen when you don't know if the guy in front of you will want to kill you or not, especially when there's the risk of losing everything you'd worked for. These were all great experiences, but all that said, once its popularity skyrocketed (Pun not intended), the mass-pvp fest got tiring really fast. The last time I played must have been around 6 months ago, and the last time before that was around August 2012. The reasons for this being the complete frustration with things like 3PV, KOS camping spawn areas, ridiculously abundant military loot and the terrible medical/wounding system and more. I'm really torn on DayZ because if the zombies were more of a threat, it'd be so much more fun, but all you need to do is bypass towns and cities and all you have to worry about is other people with guns. The Namalsk one was pretty cool though, since it had Bloodsuckers. There are also some servers where pretty much the entire regular population is on a teamspeak and if you're not on it with them, you're KOS.
I remember I once was at the NW Airport with my buddy, but my buddy died. A few hours later I logged in, and saw two guys there. Well, actually I didn't see them, I was looking for parts for the chopper when i just got shot out of nowhere and barily survived. Like seriosly, barely, minimal health, passing out every 20 seconds, blurry pulsing screen, no bandages left, that sort of thing. I told them that they could have just said they're friendly and I wouldn't hurt them. After a short talk we discovered we all speak German, and then they asked me to come to them. They also stole my UAV earlier. So anyway, I do as they asked, and they gave me my weapon back, well they essentially said take what you want, gave me a transfusion and some cooked meat. It was pretty nice. I logged out shortly after, and when I came back I saw a crashe plane and both of them dead :v:
