I want a tesla so fucking bad.
with a price tag of $100 000 around here a man can keep dreaming :frown:
I love that you can see the little cars passing by on the screen in real time. They're moving side to side too so it's not just a basic animation. That's cool. I wonder if they'll advance the "truck, car, or bike" tech to the point where it can tell the make, model, and color of cars passing by and use an accurate image for it. Imagine falling asleep at the wheel, waking up to find yourself parked behind a semi truck at a truck stop three states over.

I don't know if they would do that, while cool to look at it would probably be a big waste of processing power. Being able to differentiate between cars, bikes and trucks though has a real use since a real driver would act differently around each one. I'll get a Model 3 as soon as I can, maybe not immediately at release but shortly after.
I was gonna get a Camaro in a few years, but I may just get a Tesla now. A couple years down the line is gonna be even better than it is currently

The wetness of audio ruins the video
About two year until full autonomy is ready to go from a technical perspective apparently.
On regular roads too?
The wetness of audio ruins the video
I hate when people talk like this, I want to hear what they say, not what the saliva in their mouth sounds like.

Wouldn't it detect any cars to the left or right when switching lanes? In which case it would stay on the current path and lose the truck, then what happens?
Wouldn't it detect any cars to the left or right when switching lanes? However it can't tell if it's a car or a crash barrier or what ever. If he let it continue eventually the car probably would've swerved back into its lane. Tesla will probably fix this issue soon enough though. The system is capable of following previously generated high precision GPS maps, which are shared with the whole fleet, and they are of a high enough resolution to map each lane separately. They need to make the system capable of recognizing when the car in front is changing lanes and then have it fall back onto the GPS map. You can see the system working without any lane markings or cars here: [editline]28th January 2016[/editline]
On regular roads too?
Yes. They will probably go to a different hardware setup with 8 cameras around the car iirc. It only has one being used by the system right now.
It's inching closer to being like the car from knight rider.
It's inching closer to being like the car from knight rider.
You mean KITT?
You mean KITT?
Yeah, it just needs some sort of super metal and decent deep learning AI and the Tesla cars will be like KITT.
