I'm FAIRLY sure that bribing people with subs to vote for you is a felony. Apparently this happened two weeks ago or so, but I've only just heard about it now. At least he is coming under investigation for this.
Someone did something like this in Denmark. The health enforcement something-something got on their asses 'cause they didn't have the proper hygiene training to do so :v:
This is just getting easier and easier for Obama. I'm going to laugh so hard if Romney gets booted out of the elections for this.
politicians have been doing this forever.
A Milwaukee television station, WISN-TV is reporting campaign workers for Vice President Gore supplied homeless voters with packs of cigarettes and then gave them rides so the voters could pick up their absentee ballots in Milwaukee. It would have been nice if he was doing it just to be nice instead of for votes, he seems like a cool guy and it was awesome of him to give away subs like that. Too bad he's running for Office and this is technically bribery because he's counting on them to vote for him in exchange for a sandwhich.
Wow... death of a political campaign, by sandwich.
I could really go for a sub right now, integrity be damned.
Regardless if you like Romney or not to say this is bribery is beyond stupid. He is not only giving them the subs if they are going to vote for him, he is giving them out to who ever comes up there. [editline]16th April 2012[/editline]
Wow... death of a political campaign, by sandwich.
Nothing is going to become of this, at all.
Doesn't look like bribery. Looks like he's giving out free sandwiches to people.
Doesn't look like bribery. Looks like he's giving out free sandwiches to people.
While telling them to vote him.
While telling them to vote him.
So? In order for it to be bribery there would have to be some sort of promise or agreement for a vote. Also its a fucking turkey sandwich, I highly doubt someones vote is going to be swayed.
While telling them to vote him.
He's saying it more jokingly than anything, what's the big deal about?
Actually I never heard him say too vote directly for him. If this is bribery then having any sort of refreshments at a political event should also be considered bribery.
Goddamnit law texts are so illegible...
Fuck I wish I was there, I would get such a good sub.
He's saying it more jokingly than anything, what's the big deal about?
Not a big deal at all, for me at least.
Jesus Christ they're fucking subs. Now if it was money it'd be worse.
I don't see the big deal really; even though I don't like Mitt there still isn't any real bribery going on.
If obama had been caught doing this the media would have speared him out the ass but why isn't there a big uproar when romney does it?
If obama had been caught doing this the media would have speared him out the ass but why isn't there a big uproar when romney does it?
Because sensible people don't care about it and Republicans don't want to point out issues with the people running for them.
If obama had been caught doing this the media would have speared him out the ass but why isn't there a big uproar when romney does it?
Because LIBERAL MEDIA!!!!11
So? In order for it to be bribery there would have to be some sort of promise or agreement for a vote. Also its a fucking turkey sandwich, I highly doubt someones vote is going to be swayed.
It's technically illegal if it was done on an election day. If that day was considered an election day(I don't know if primaries are technically elections or not), then it is highly illegal because he was giving out a prize to encourage people to vote for him. It's obvious that he was looking for votes. The only question is whether the act was done on an election day or not. It is implied because he is running for an office that he was hoping to encourage people to vote for him. [editline]16th April 2012[/editline] If it had to be direct, then I could flash a $50 in front of a cop when I was being pulled over without getting arrested, because I never directly asked for him not to give me a ticket by exchanging money. It's implied when you wave the money or object in the person's face that the you want something in return.
Knowing how stupid majority of Americans are, this should get him at least 10000 votes.
JESUS FUCK, you dense motherfuckers. He's just handing out fucking sandwiches, he isn't stealing their babies and holding fucking guns to their heads telling them to vote. ALLAH HUMMUS get over it. [sp]Still not voting for him[/sp]
I really think he's just doing this so people see him in a positive light, not because he wants everybody in that sub place to vote for him. I mean I'm sure he'd be glad to have their vote but really, what difference is a few dozen people going to make?
oh shit yeah free subs where can i sign up
I'd eat the free sub and still not vote for him.
If obama had been caught doing this the media would have speared him out the ass but why isn't there a big uproar when romney does it?
No, they wouldn't have. To say this is bribery is ridiculous by most peoples standards. [editline]16th April 2012[/editline]
It's technically illegal if it was done on an election day. But there was no standard for receiving a sandwich, you could go up and get one even if you already voted democrat. I agree that it appears under Wisconsin law it would actually be illegal, apparently giving anything out over 1 dollar is illegal. But my point is the guy in the video is acting as though this is some major bribery scheme but its probably just a honest mistake.
doesn't look like bribing to me, he never actually says I'll give you this sandwhich if you vote for me
No, they wouldn't have. To say this is bribery is ridiculous by most peoples standards.
Obama got smeared at one point for NOT WEARING A FLAG PIN. You grossly underestimate the stupidity of certain media organizations.
