Yes, that means that any Tegra K1 device (Which is what the rumored Nvidia Tablet will run on) can play The wii or gamecube on the go!
The audio breaking is always so annoying. Some minor frame skipping couldn't hurt if it meant perfect audio.
I'd really like to see this on a phone though.
They did start android development a while back. The only "playable" game right now is a digimon fighting game. It runs the intro to luigis mansion/SMS/Mario party well but the moment it goes to gameplay it's 10% speed or something like that.
in the future, gta iv will also run shit on mobile devices

san andreas actually runs pretty goddamn well on the latest phones. wouldnt be surprised if we saw a playable version in 1/2 years.
There's already an official San Andreas port being sold on Google Play by Rockstar.
You need a pretty recent phone though; I haven't played it.
that is exactly what i am referring to.

Yeah, I got it on my Iphone 5. Too bad the controls are absolute shit.

I'd imagine that's why it's got more popularity on the shield alongside having graphical options.
I checked Dolphin out again recently and started out by testing out how well Super Mario Galaxy could be played on my gaming rig. I ended up playing the game to completion using the emulator.

Runs at smooth 60 FPS in 1080p practically all of the time except for two areas where the speed briefly dipped down noticeably. If you have a good gaming rig and some Wii games lying around, give this emulator a shot. You won't regret it.
I use dolphin to play smash bros in 1080p
It's some amazing software that's for sure
Gotta love how good Nintendo emulation is- you never hear these kinds of stories about classic PS2 or dreamcast games. Whether that means Nintendo is more popular or that the other consoles are more complex, I dunno, but it's still interesting.
My computer cant run gamecube emulators without disgusting amounts of slowdown.
ps2 emulation with pcsx2 is pretty good with my 4670k. emulation is much less GPU bound than running natively

I can play Brawl at 50FPS when it's just 1 on 1, but it runs athalf speed with any more players/CPU.
Haven't tried anything else, I heard Budokai Tenkaichi 3 runs very well on low end computers.
Yeah PS2 emulation pretty much only depends on the CPU, I have a i5 3570k and after setting up the emulator correctly games run great,I've been able to play through MGS 1,2 and Persona 3/4 without any major issues, only a few slowdows when there's a lot happening on the screen.
At 1920x1080 my GPU doesn't even go into full power mode, it only kicks into full gear when I'm downsampling from 6x the default PS2 resolution which is like 4K, even then the framerate stays at 60fps

They're probably running the emulator on a Tegra K1 development kit in the video, which is an entirely separate board with proper cooling.
Running Dolphin on a tablet would probably get you hitting the thermal limit pretty fast, and the tablet would downclock, and suddenly the game runs like ass.
I'm assuming the K1 is running on ARM architecture, how is this version of dolphin any different than the android one?

its not

well, technically this one is running on linux and not android, but mostly the same shit
I played paper Mario thousand year door to competition just fine but I can't play Spider-Man 2 on dolphin for shit.
Dear god, I seriously doubt the current battery technology will be able to keep up with the rate phones are improving, I can imagine the battery time being less than 30 minutes with a Gamecube game being emulated. That's one of the biggest problems in mobile gaming whether it be a laptop, tablet, or smartphone, current batteries hold a relatively small amount of charge and take quite long to fully recharge.
I think phones should just have solar panels or some technology that allows them to charge by shaking them, I'm seriously baffled at how nothing of the sort exists yet, let alone a better type of battery that can store much more electricity in the same amount of space.

theres some new fancy battery crap with a lot more density in the works but i actually havent ever seen it in use.
If we're just about at this level with gamecube games though doesn't this mean that we're now capable of emulating PS2 games as well, assuming someone puts the time and effort into developing one?
There's a major discussion going on about it in the community for that PCSX2 emulator.
Not necessarily. In fact probably not at all. Emulating PS2 games generally takes a lot more than Gamecube games, and because there are so many strange tricks developers have used for some PS2 games, there are still a lot of games that PCSX2 has a hard time emulating to this day.
Might be able to run some of the lower end games though, like Godhand. And that's the best game anyway.
