Those guys hitting him with their cars are going to have a tough time defending those actions in court. Maybe they could argue that they were trying to disable him for the welfare of the public or until the police arrived but self defense isn't really a good reason to turn around and repeatedly try to run him down. Those individual drivers didn't have their lives in immediate danger. They could've driven away and even if they didn't he'd have to wail on their windows for awhile with that machete before he got into the car, and none of them were parked long enough for him to do that.
That's a tricky one for the courts.
Either way, fuck that machete guy. Legality aside I'm glad those guys hit that fucker with their cars.

I would normally agree, but the driver continued to come back and put himself in danger. He should have just drove away at the first opportunity. Plus even then a machete isn't going to do much to a car, yeah it will scratch and ding it but the driver was safe for the most part.

I'm not sure how that's relevant seeing as I never said I'd make a loop and come back for a second try. If he's got a weapon and he's in my way then I have no qualms about applying 3000 pounds of metal to their body, as the ultimate goal is to get out of that situation.
