(This isn't my video by the way.)
Started off ok. But His youth and naiveness showed especially when he mentions drugs and lumps them all into the category - "selfishly making yourself happy with them".
Also his statement about not making himself happy unless he deserves it flys directly in the face of eastern philosophy.
It started off good then just went downhill.
"What the coolest thing you've ever done is?" is like asking "what's the thing that you've done that you liked the most?" Of course everyone is going to give you a moment of extreme emotion, a moment when you felt fucking cool. What the fuck? That doesn't mean it's the most important moment in their lives. And that doesn't mean they seek answers to life by jumping out of a plane. You "asked what the coolest thing is" not "what the most important and satisfying thing is". If I would be the guy that fixed world hunger and someone asked me "what's the coolest thing you've done?" I'd say bungee jumping or something. Because that's the coolest thing. Not the most gratifying or important as you are implying. And the entire argument is based on that. It's all null.
Also it's the rescuers job to look for you. They are not wasting time, it's their job. Unless you want your family to go look for you.
And what the fuck, the third point he's making is "the only thing that you should enjoy is giving pleasure to other people" It's a fucking paradox because if I was an artist (in order to feel happy by giving something to other people) and someone would enjoy my work, their enjoyment would be "wrong" according to that very fucking statement, since you know, they are not contributing by watching art. There is no point in making movies because nobody can enjoy them. It makes no sense.
Yes, helping others is cool and everybody should do it. That doesn't mean that other things they do to have fun are wrong or something like that.
Also who the fuck are you to tell people how to live their lives?
So basically this guys message is "Your happiness is bad, only do something that could help everyone"
Why is there always a forced choice between personal happiness and sacrificing ourselves to the Other?
