Just saw this, thought it's kind of interesting, but he seems to contradict himself too. Your thoughts? [editline]11th January 2012[/editline] Why isn't the video embedding working...
Fix [editline]12th January 2012[/editline] You can't have all that embedded shit
He has some good points. He's essentially trying to say that people use religion as a mask to hide their assholery, and that people are interpreting everything wrong okay i watched it again and everything i just said was fucking shit lmao maybe i should have watched the part when he contradicted himself at the end
Nothing new, there are plenty of contemporary and classic sermons that antagonize the "religion" aspect of Christianity. The "do" vs "done" point is a pretty important concept for anyone interested in Christianity.
He makes good points, but there's so many branches of religion that have formed differently and how things are interpreted that it's really just how he views religion and Jesus.
Pretty interesting to be honest.
That is why I don't like so many "religious" people. If you believe in Christianity, you are missing the entire point if you spend your time trying to be better than everyone else. My Church and Pastor thankfully have a good grasp on this concept. His basic statement is this: "Christians are not good people, and Atheists are not bad people. Everyone is a sinner and the punishment is death(hell). According to the Bible, Jesus was a sacrifice that offered free forgiveness to all, no matter what." The one difference between a Christian and an Atheist according to my pastor is this: "Christians are forgiven, and atheists are unforgiven." They are only unforgiven because they have not accepted the sacrifice. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to preach to you guys, I'm just saying if you have a faith, it's better to believe in the core concept and not the outward structure of society. I am 100% supportive of freedom of religion, the rights of gay marriage, and being pro-choice. I just know if more churches were like the one I go to, Christians wouldn't have such a bad reputation.
You are a good person, ZF911.
The people who invented Christianity invented the story of Jesus. He's still getting the fairy tale that he thinks is true from those whom he denounces. From the video he seems to believe 100% that the stories about what Jesus did were true. And that is his biggest mistake.

He's a fucking retard, that's what he is.
Actually no, I redact that. Way too many contradictions and loopholes, the guys an idiot who tried to make it sound fancy and true just because theres some fancy camera effects and good lighting mixed with a poem. Fuck that guy
all a bunch of bullshit designed to make you feel good
Wow this thread when from happy to angry right at the point TAA video was posted. (This was an angry observation)
You can't separate Jesus from Religion, it just doesn't work that way.
Comes across as a life-time Christian desperately trying to hold on to the parts of religion he enjoys while setting up artificial walls to separate it from the numerous, honest reasons to despise the concept.
He has some good points but he's a retard anyway
The thing about TAA I really don't like is that I really can't make an argument in that video without using an obscene amount of profanity or sarcasm. As a Christian, I still respect that he has his own point of view, but from what I have seen, the main thing people have wrong with Christians is that we tend to impose our viewpoints on others without listening to what they have to say. It seems like TAA is doing this; arguing against religion and Christianity simply by putting it down and bashing it, rather than in a polite, sophisticated way, you know? I mean, who says "Jesus, go fuck yourself"? It is just rude, and is only said in an attempt to be edgy and controversial. I believe that the original video is talking about just this. People don't hate Christians because they believe in Jesus. They hate them because many sects of Christianity invented by man preach that people NEED to go out and annoy the shit out of everyone to get them to convert, i.e. Jehovah's Witnesses. Believing in Jesus is a personal thing, while religion is about others. All religion is trying to do is to get others to have develop the personal relationship with Jesus. Christians have their own points of view, and so do Atheists. I believe in Jesus, but I can respect those who have other points of view. TAA seems to not be able to do this. To me, he just looks like the Atheist version of what people hate about Christians. That is just my opinion though, take it or leave it.
Turned off half way through because he started every sentence with "See"

I'm just talking about the irony of how he deals with it. He isn't understanding, only condescending. He embodies what Atheists don't like about Christians, only he is doing it to himself.

I would suggest that you bring your criticism up to him yourself. Also, I think that telling Jesus to go fuck himself is less an attempt at being 'edgy' and more about telling him to go fuck himself because if Jesus actually said that, that's pretty stuck up and asshole-ish of him.

He's an entertainer, he puts the points out there in an excited and strong-willed way. He swears and uses sarcasm, that's the kind of person he is. Hell, George Carlin did, too. The language you use does not deteriorate your statements or their meaning, and while he does put it down, it's usually because of a reason that he explains. The problem is when someone else watching doesn't accept that reason, and then says that he's simply bashing them.
Alright, I am a bit confused... Can someone tell me what the original video is trying to tell me, in all seriousness?
Sorry mates if you think you're going to hell if you don't worship your favorite deity, you're a fucking idiot i mean no disrespect, but religion must perish
TAA
I love that slight pause at 13:40 where he totally wanted to say even if I believed you "existed" but fell back a little and said "what they say you did" because all he would end up with is a shitstorm in his PM inbox, because even atheists refuse to question his existence, which I think is ridiculous.

As long as someone doesn't shove their beliefs in my face, be it homosexuality, atheism, whatever, You can believe whatever you want. There are just the people that ruin it for Christians that say "You must do this because the Word says so!" Hell my Sunday School teacher told us she forced her son to stop playing dungeons & Dragons because it involved magic and that is witchcraft which is against the bible. Religion shouldn't be put into things other than religion, I say.
I wish people could be like the video. But idk, like 80% of the world is 200% moronic.

If you claim to HATE theists then I can see through your 14 year old nieve ass, this coming from an agnostic person.
Typical itt. Atheists saying "fuck that guy" calling him a "retard" and saying his point is "bullshit". I'm Christian. But that doesn't mean I'd ever disrespect YOUR views on life. Atheists often associate themselves with logic, but all I see is pointless hatred and belittling of people that have different perspectives than you do. Oh and pretentious people who think they're smarter than someone else just because they don't believe in a God.
