Anyone up for chess?
Ghandi approves.
Cool that they are so devastating that MAD is in effect
I've never really seen MAD in a videogame
Even if two players have T.nuke subs they are just going to do it anyways. there isn't (or has been) a reason not to just go full fallout because the cities stay, units can be remade and by that age most players will have already spread out a large distance that losing one city and nearby tiles doesnt damage their production too much.
Unless you go for one of the other victory routes.

Looks to me as though it'll be a lot worse here than in Civ 5, given Districts, a well positioned nuclear strike could cripple everything you have, completely disabling them, unlike in Civ 5 where your buildings would be safe and the only thing to take a hit would be population, which you could mitigate with late game buildings and could eventually come back from and it looks like it still does that as well.

I really like the Ragnarok in PA Titans.
If you can't win, you just blow the entire map up to at least get a draw

now we need a skynet mod that will make new AI faction :dead: for sterilization
this has really been the only video on civilization 6 that i have seen and it has sold me
Oh boy, I'm excited for Civ 6 now. I always did like cackling like a madman while singing Civilization by Danny Kaye and launching all the missiles. Now they're as devastating as they rightfully should be!
Gonna be great fun to bring Atom's Brilliance to anyone who dares stand in my path!
It didn't mention Atomic Bombers as an option like in Civ 5 so I wonder if they're being phased out or just neglected to be mentioned.
Regardless I'm glad that nukes have got more kick. I'm hoping for more armageddons in the late game.
For a game that supposed to be very difficult an have a steep learning curve they sure did dumb down nuclear warfare.

Bruh where the fuck did you hear this about Civ. It's like your basic laid back intro game to the strategy scene, it's never once been advertised or community acknowledged as difficult. And we don't really know for sure at the moment if they're leaving anything out of the trailers.
My mind is boggled.

Since when has Civ supposed to be difficult and have a steep learning curve? It's always been fairly casual and easy to pick up, with the ability for a player ro dive deeper into the systems and play the game at a deep level.
It's also how nukes have worked in civ for like, ever.

Huh.
I'll admit the last time I played Civ was when I was 10 or 11. Is there another RTS game I might be confusing this with?

DEFCON?

Total War maybe (even then that isn't complex)? Paradox games (Pausable Real Time Grand Strategy games)?
Though civ is turn based and not real time lol

I'm pretty sure people use RTS as a catch-all for strategy games now.
Oh well, doesn't matter.

Nah bro, it's all about that hip 4X lingo.

Uhhhhhhhh...no, RTS is not a catch all for a genre that uses rounds to allow players to make decisions instead of letting players make decisions in real time.

Civ 2 was pretty difficult to grasp since there were close to no in game help and a shit ton of menus.
can you destroy an enemy's nukes on the ground though? since they silos are tile improvements or whatever a first strike might be the only viable option

Well i know what song i will be playing once i launch a all-out nuclear strike

Or this one from Civ 5 that played once you launched a nuke

Civ music has always been god tier.

Like real nuclear wars that's why you have submarines with ICBMs inside so all of your weapons don't get wiped out in the first strike.
I think the only way to properly nuke another super power is being the first to get them. Have spies in their cities and see if they're building silos or submarines, then nuke them when you see that stuff being constructed.
Looks like they really ramped up the power of nukes. Before they were mostly for softening up a target for an invasion, but now they seem truly crippling, especially for civs that try to spam cities.

Too right. I still love Civ 2's soundtrack.

Even the menu theme gave this feeling of starting something grand.

I hope that interceptors have a chance to get em, if they're even in the game.
[editline]3rd October 2016[/editline]
Does this mean that the AI will be more willing to use em?
I saw nuclear bomb listed in there so there are still bombers.
But nukes are so much fun in games when they are properly done. My fondest moment of Civ 4 was when I was a 4 city nation(tall) and I had like 10 nuclear bombs through trading. But then Russia(neighbour) denied me my uranium and was preparing for war.
So I stationed 8 subs with nukes and 2 bombers near the borders and just nuked their entire civilization into dust. Reducing them from the 2nd place all the way down to like 11th. fuck you russia get nuked
I always found the air units in Civ V to be kinda janky, especially in the UI department. I hope they're better this game.
It kinda bothers me a lot how the space program comes before nuclear fission and how thermonuclear devices need nuclear fusion, a future tech.
