It kinda bums me out that they're predicting it to be [sp]a very similar story to episode 4... and that they're making really strong points to back it up. I hope it's more different than that.[/sp]

Sadly JJ Abrams record in Star Trek has in indicated that he loves parallel plots.

[sp]At least it's hopefully not paralleling the story of episode 1.[/sp]
What a neeeeeeeeerd
oh man that theory of [sp]finn being killed by kylo ren in the snowy woods and rey finding his body[/sp] is a pretty interesting theory.
This speculation is so fucking juicy.

Yeah but he also has Lawrence Kasdan on the writing team.
The prediction with Finn [sp]not being force sensitive, but actually a red herring[/sp] makes a bit of sense.
It's also [sp]completely not true.[/sp]
i'm hoping they don't parallel waaaay too much
[sp]i think a third death star would be excessive by this point but the planetary disguise sounds cool enough for them to get away with it in my opinion, they'd definitely have to switch up a lot of the things they're doing, maybe if they paralleled the original trilogy in new ways rather than following the example they set parallelling it with the prequels[/sp]
[editline]5th November 2015[/editline]
this is some of the most intelligent speculation i've ever seen however
it took them 12 years to make
Some of their ideas makes sense, some I don't agree with but overall I don't think this video is too spoilerific. [sp]Except for how Leia gets the lightsaber. That's something I didn't know and with the info they brought it makes a lot of sense. As for Finn not being Force sensitive. I thought of that, too, but his pose on the poster seems very Jedi-like. It might be just a pose for the poster though. Because there is so little info about the plot it's hard to speculate but I don't think Finn will die. They are starting a new trilogy and killing one of the new trio in the first movie seems too soon. Han seems like the most obvious choice. The thought of Dark Luke makes me angry so I hope they won't go that route but if they do I hope they justify/explain/make it work.[/sp]
What if Fin is Leia's son because she cheated on Han with Lando, or split with Han for Lando, and that CGI Character was giving Leia the lightsaber that Leia to gave Fin when he was younger after Fin dies in the woods to Kylo. Hence her sad embrace with Han post-battle. Or the embrace happened Pre-Battle and she felt through the force his fate that night
I said it here first folks!
Luke being the new Old Ben/Yoda or the next Emperor are both so horrifically cliche that I think I prefer the latter theory now. In the least the new trilogy does indeed need the evil wizard and I'd rather Mark fill the role.
The only reason I don't think Luke will be evil is due to the need to establish new characters and the trio. It'd be difficult to really make it about the new generation with the shadow of Luke over everything, especially since if it's anything like the Emperor in RoTJ he'll eventually steal the show.
Ever since the latest trailer, my thoughts on the new movie have turned into "it's basically A New Hope all over again." There's too many coincidences and too many things line up to the point where it practically looks like a remake of the first movie, including a Death Star trench run at the end in a race against time before they blow up the Rebel base.
I do not think Abrams is above redoing the trench run sequence.
