I thought the point of a cover was to make something your own, not to shit on them as they're talented but it brings nothing new to the table for the original song.
an Example of what I mean is RBF's Cover of the same song.

I was honestly gonna say the same thing.
It's still amazing how great of a recreation of the song it is with both the live instruments and Danny's vocals, but in comparison to other cover songs, it's a bit underwhelming since they could've made it into more than just a recreation of the original song.

To be fair, their style draws from the same era as the original song anyway. There's not much they could've done differently short of their usual cheesy shtick, which isn't what they were going for.
Good cover right here

Just saw RBF last month down in San Diego - hands down one of the best live performances I've ever attended. Hearing this live was one of the best parts of my month.
I thought it was really good.
They're coming out with a cover album, and considering they're mostly a comedy band that sings about dicks, I think this kind of cover is just right for them.
Applaud the effort, but those drums just sound awkward.

That'll be TWRP for you. Personally i thought it was fantastic but i'm a bit of a fanboy so.

i mean NSP and TWRP are both bands that go for an 80s-early 90s tinge so it's no surprise that when they take on a song that found it's popularity in the 80s-early 90s that it'll sound strikingly familiar to the original song. just as this exact cover you posted was released and found it's footing around the same time goldfinger started hitting the scene. because it sounds exactly like goldfinger and music from that ska-induced era. at the end of the day it really depends on what era and genre of music your cover lies in. albiet it'd probably be more interesting if they took other songs into the 80s-90s era, but it seems to be more of a labor of love for the songs that inspire their current style than what you're looking for in a cover.

unrelated to this post but I really like the echo effect, but exclusively for the end when they've layered more of his voice onto it. other than that it actually hurt this track a lot. aka the same shit everyone says about their mixing whenever their videos get posted here.

Local man gets angry that low-budget comedy band singer that shoots for 80s style sounds too much like 80s song that they're covering.

Except it's a very valid point. The song feels flat and uninspired considering it's largely the same thing, just less authentic.
Edit: Also who came up with the awful name Ninja Sex Party?
that's awesome

Who came up with the name Agoat? Point being, anything and most things can and do sound stupid to others, it's what you do with the name that makes people care.

Some friends of mine did when we were playing Halo, it made the game say things like "A goat killed you" etc.
Removed part of this I have no business drunk posting
We all know what the best cover of Take on Me is

I honestly don't think Danny's voice is very good. He can definitely hit notes but I think his voice and his style sound terrible.

Was hardly angry, i was just saying. Calm down and don't take things so personal.

Also
Man gets upset that other man doesn't like thing, proceeds to shit post about it.
The quality of the video is awesome, but I'm pretty sure he only gets likes because he's a good guy... not for his talent :v: His voice just does not work with any music.
[editline]24th February 2016[/editline]
I have to say this is one of his best songs though, I can seriously appreciate the effort and it doesn't sound that bad actually.

He's technically a good singer, technique is there, can correctly hit notes, has good range, probably did some vocal training too.
It's a voice, you could argue that it's rather bland imo
[editline]24th February 2016[/editline]
He's just having fun

no need to sugar coat it.

relative to other singers, he's decent at best
What are opinions
I like Danny's singing voice. I don't really listen to NSP, but some of the remixes are neat.

I look forward to your cover in retaliance to his.
This fucking video has nailed the vhs tape / 80s look
I hope they do more like this in the future rather than their usually silly nsp songs
