http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZG3IwV39ToE It's still processing but it should appear in really nice quality once its done, I wanted to post the thread before I went to bed. It wasn't a hard song or anything, but it was my first time editing clips together, so I thought I should get some feedback on how I did Let me know!
Okay so it capped at 480p, yet I recorded/uploaded in 1080p..? Why did Youtube do that?
Sounds al right.
Sounds al right.
thanks =) How did you embed the video like that? I was trying to figure it out when I made the thread.

That's actually pretty damn good. Great job! Wish I could play like that. :v:
What's your tuning? Sounds incredibly low
What's your tuning? Sounds incredibly low
Drop D
Not really that impressive. It sounds good and there's no errors, but that honestly doesn't take much skill. It's quite repetitive and there's nothing special about it

I'm just gonna bump this because it's extremely hard to get views for guitar covers on youtube (yet poorly-made gmod videos get 100,000? fuck) I'm semi-open to requests and I could continue posting new covers here if anyone would be interested. =)
Good job! I use to play a lot of Deftones songs. It's been a while, but I could still remember how to play the whole Around The Fur album and some White Pony, and a few from the self-titled (almost that whole album is done with a 7-string esp). They were one of my favorite bands.

I'd love to get my hands on a seven string, lucky. I was thinking of picking another song from White Pony but it's soooooo old, might go for something off Diamond Eyes instead.
try not to anchor but it's good apart from that and nice the way you edited the distortion parts in. (if you didn't know anchoring is resting your 4th and or 3rd finger on the guitar body to make it easier to pick arpeggios and such but it ends up limiting you in the long run if you want to play fast)

I've played a Deftones song too. Played everything.

I've been encouraged by some and discouraged by others so I just decided to do what works for me. If I find it's a problem in the future I'll adapt =) But right now it works for me.
true a lot of teachers say different things so I checked out a lot of lessons on youtube and most of the best shredders like Paul Gilbert say don't and when I went to one lesson in real life the teacher asked me to play something to see where I'm at so I played a little lick I learned and it had a very obvious half tone bend in it somewhere in the middle and after playing it my teacher said "hey if you're going to try and do a bend you gotta get it all the way up there" and proceeded to show me a full bend, I didn't even bother trying to explain it to him because he'd obviously been playing a long time (was about 70 yr old by my guess) and since I'd been playing about a month at the time.. it wouldn't have gone down well. So I decided to just go with the flow and he specifically told me to anchor and then showed me the first 3 notes of Sweet Home Alabama and told me to practice them for a week (and I had been using guitarpro to learn much more) and I'd been referred to this guy from someone I knew who claimed that he was an amazing teacher. After that I vowed to only take advice from people like Paul Gilbert, Shawn Lane, Pebber brown, John Petrucci etc and it's worked out for the best. But do what you want I just thought I'd give my dollar instead of 2 cents.

I can't anchor all the time, there are only certain things I can do for anchoring. Like, I certainly can't tremolo pick while anchoring my hand, it just doesn't work, but if I'm palm muting and hopping across strings while alternate picking it helps reduce the motion of my hand, thus allowing me to play more efficiently.
