I didn't expect them to get other player models in so fast, jesus. He's been working on this mod for what, less than a month?
this is fucking incredible
this is awesome but i know nintendo's gonna C&D this so hard if it gains too much traction regardless, :incredible: mod
It feels like every time that Mario 64 has hit its limit with how people can modify the game, someone new comes into the romhacking scene and just blows everything else out of the water. I remember when ToadsTool64's object, texture and text editor were the peak of what could be done with the game around 2005/06. Then in 2008 a guy named YoshiElectron makes a channel where he's programming new gameshark codes every day with interesting and silly effects, which isn't really gamebreaking but it's cool what he's programming into the game. Within a year, a guy named Frauber creates a simple level importer and the first full romhack (Super Mario 64: The Missing Stars) to use it. I stopped lurking/following the community back around 2010 so some of the details may be off, but I know since then they got working music importers, sound replacements, a new level editor. And now we have this guy who's programming entirely new features into the game while making his own romhacks which are full-game length. It would be really interesting to see someone make a video documenting the progression of Super Mario 64 romhacking, since there's always been a lot of cool developments going on and popping up every couple of years.
