• Man on his deathbed delivers a powerful message.

If you are an atheist do not scorn me for posting this video. I am a partial believer in God, but I do not conform to the "christian values", I am somewhat of an independent when it comes to religion. I believe in different things than other people but I am sure there are other people that have similar beliefs to mine. I am not trying to persuade anyone to believe in God, but I do think people should expand their minds to different horizons. I myself believe there is a higher power in the universe that had something to do with our creation but I am not going to get into that because I could never get my point across through a forum. On another note this man felt the importance to share this message within hours of his death, he cared enough to pass the information he experienced so that we could somewhat understand. I am unsure of what he saw when he is talking about heaven and hell but there is something out there that will take lifetimes to understand and unlock. Rate me dumb if you must but I saw this video and felt that it needed to be shared. And remember this guy is deceased so try not to be too harsh, have a little respect for the dead because he had enough care to deliver this message moments before his death.
This needed to be shared.
I hope he dies of cancer. (User was banned for this post ("Insensitive / shitposting" - birkett))
I hope he dies of cancer.
why would you hope for death upon someone you don't know also hope doesn't exist
There is no god. Sad truth. [editline]12:25AM[/editline] I'm not trolling by the way, I only believe in "the powers that be"
There is no god. Sad truth. [editline]12:25AM[/editline] I'm not trolling by the way, I only believe in "the powers that be"
and you know that because you have died before.
I think people sense what they want to sense when it comes to traumatic situations like a man being on his death bed. For the most part, if he were atheist he most likely would not have had any of this in his head.

That is why I do not say there is no God and live a lifetime of preaching believing in nothing when we cannot even come close to fathom in our wildest dreams what lies on the other side.

I don't believe in God simply because I don't have proof. If there is a God I suppose I'll find out when I die. I'll have lived a good life and will probably be allowed into heaven (assuming God isn't a total dick). If there is no God I wouldn't have wasted my time on meaningless dribble. I'd rather spend my only life on Earth doing things I enjoy. Which is also why I don't spend time arguing like a madman over religion. I discuss religion with people, but when the conversation devolves into an argument I refuse to try and yell my opinions into the other person.
this thread cannot end well

It would be very interesting to study the near death experiences of believers and non-believers. If you convince your own brain that a god exists/heaven etc, then when approaching death your brain probably creates vivid and fantastical hallucinations. The brains capabilities are absolutely fascinating.

Answer this question for me though, why would God let someone into "Heaven" if he knew that person denied he even existed for an entire lifetime?
The reality is our perception of both the natural world and the supernatural world cannot be based off what we think is rational at a grave point in our lives. We as people need to realize that it is rational to not believe in a god, and not take people's dying words as evidence either for or against a creator. The people who are distributing this video are using it as evidence of a god existing. We cannot accept it as such. How a person feels about there being a god should be a culmination of their lifetime experiences, and not just them blindly trying to rationalize something that they thought was true during a difficult time in their life.

When people are in times of stress you know that they will sense what they want to sense, they won't think of things that aren't pushed into the 'front of their head'. For instance, if you just lost a loved one you're not going to think of information that is not relevant or critical. Due to this man being (very) religious his ideas of religion gave him this 'epiphany'. For some reason that new episode of the amazing atheist made sense to me.
I found this in related, figured it would be relative to the subject. Here is some last words of famous atheist's. It is kind of ironic that some pray for help.

It would be awfully selfish for God to not allow a good person into Heaven simply because they didn't believe in him. Take for example a doctor. This guy practiced medicine for 30 years and saved countless lives, but he doesn't believe in God. Why should God deny him access to Heaven?

We as humans cannot know what lies ahead, we are not equipped with that knowledge. I myself am open minded and refuse to view things in a state of mind that is closed. I do not fully disagree with your statement because once again you are human and are supposed to draw conclusions such as that one, that is how are brains are programmed. We have the power to reprogram our minds though and see things in totally different ways and that is how I live. You just have to open your mind to different levels and lead it away from human habits. Once you accomplish that the way you view things and the world and universe will be totally different. There are many secrets to unlock within the universe but it can only be done with your thoughts and because of that you have to be open minded. I myself believe a lot of things go beyond science and that is why we are unable to comprehend the universe around us because we believe science is the only way of proving something. But at least you are tackling the subject with an open mind.

I like your philosophy. By the looks of your other replies you seem to think you are also some uber-thinker who can rate people on their scale of belief. Who do you think you are?
I am an Atheist.
I found this in related, figured it would be relative to the subject. Here is some last words of famous atheist's. View YouTUBE video http://youtube.com/watch?v=68yymdLwx4E It is kind of ironic that some pray for help.
And Martin Luthers last words were: "I had believed in god, I had believed in my lord jesus, now I believe it's been a wasted life." And Thomas Aquinas "why have you forsaken me, now at deaths door, was my belief in vain, it seems so." Deathbed quotes don't mean anything, and because most of them are not recorded by the person themselves they are hard to be sure of. Richard Dawkins has said he's going to die with a tape-recorder next to his bed to make sure no one constructs a "deathbed revelation" for him.
I'm not so sure this thread is going anywhere, everyone has their own beliefs and everyone thinks they are right, (<,correct me if i'm wrong on this) but like I said everyone is just saying what they believe and everyone who has a different opinion is just disagreeing and its just going in a circle.

What I am trying to get across is that we as humans tend to look at thing's blindly. We have to see things to believe things and we all have a certain process of thinking. We all have the ability to alter how we see those things and it is all in our thoughts to change that. I never once said I was a "uber thinker" nor did I insult your intelligence. I myself strive to think outside the box, (sometimes I think too far) and am always trying to see things differently. Once again I apologize if you were offended.\ For future reference I am not trying to argue with anyone over this, you can believe what you want to. I am not even classified as a Christian so if you have the intentions of attacking me it is pointless. I believe in certain things that I will discuss further if you want to message me or aim me but not on this forum.

It has about as much weight as an axe murderer saying that he loves rabbits when you see strewn rabbit remains all across his house with the letters "I KILL RABBITS" sprinkled in rabbit blood on his walls. Woah, creepy shit. Just because you didn't say it doesn't mean you aren't doing it. Also, like I said before, your way of thinking doesn't contribute anything to out understanding of the natural world. You're just looking at complicated issues and throwing your arms in the air going "this isn't for us to understand". As I said before, its a good thing bold scientists have always ignored people like you.
