The guns that have muzzle flash have me very interested.. Never seen those before.
The guns that have muzzle flash have me very interested.. Never seen those before.
They're shooting blanks for immersion One time they had a .50 cal at the end of a road, scared the shit outta people :v:
The guns that have muzzle flash have me very interested.. Never seen those before.
Those are real guns. MilSim West events let you bring blank-firing firearms. Kind of like a mix of reenactment and airsoft. Adds a ton to the immersion.
Isn't that ridiculously dangerous though?
Not really. I don't know exactly how the process works since I've never attended but it's sort of the same as a reenactment where they check to make sure your gun is a proper blank firing firearm and all your ammunition are blanks. I'm pretty sure you can't just show up with one, you have to be approved to bring it and it has to be signed off on before you take it onto the field. Blanks are harmless unless you do something retarded like put the muzzle against someones head and shoot them. Than the concussion and shock and everything else can kill you. But ordinarily they're harmless. Like I said, it's no different than a WWII reenactment except now they mixed in airsoft guns.
Christ, this is some next-level airsofting insanity. I've never seen them use live firearms loaded with blanks, that's just absolutely intense.
to bring a blank fire weapon you must get approval from staff no later than one week before the event. you must be at least 21 years old, and demonstrate the four basic rules of fire arm safety. your weapon must have a blank firing adapter, no open barrels. no bolt action rifles. all ammunition is checked before the event. staff can turn anyone away for any reason. [editline]28th February 2016[/editline] here are some cool pictures i took at the event. Not sure if i'm fond of the really short video clips method, but goddamn that grenade punt was ace.
how do you know if you get hit if you're getting shot by blanks
how do you know if you get hit if you're getting shot by blanks
Honor system mostly, like reenactments. But a lot of airsoft is on an honor system so it works out alright. I think they're mostly there for immersion rather than actually trying to make hits.
how do you know if you get hit if you're getting shot by blanks
its not really meant to be a kill. its mostly for immersion. but if you are getting shot at by blanks, you are supposed to react. you have to at least get to cover or that sort of thing. because airsoft guns only go like 200 feet tops, the blank fire helps extend the engagement distances. so if you are walking across an open field 150 yards away from the enemy in normal airsoft you have nothing to worry about. but with blank fire, you better at least start running when they start shooting. you may even want to consider taking a hit. its up to you though. but if like someone is 40 feet away from you and catches you off guard its pretty expected of you to call the hit.
Goddamn that looked awesome, how many people attended this? How long was it?
About 300 people, 40 hours straight.
They do milsims near me at a mock afghan village the british army use for training. They have land rovers with mounted machine guns driving round and guys walking around firing blanks. Good shit.
What game is this? Graphics are amazing

Movie/screen blank firing weapons are much more dangerous because they have to appear like a normal weapon, meaning they can only partially block off the barrel by making the inner diameter too narrow for a real bullet, but still allowing some shrapnel pieces to be ejected forward if there is an obstruction or etc
Here is a video from their official channel. Apparently the US Team was a little more serious than the Ruskies.
God damn, I really want to participate in one of these in the near future. It looks like so much fun.
How can HATO be a unified fighting force if they are not all part of a trash dog worshipping cult? They can't. This is why HATO was destroyed and their morale crushed. CANIS VULT [editline]1st March 2016[/editline] While we had secret religious rituals culminating in the summoning and physical apparition of our deity, they had a fucking slideshow. lmao
I'd love to slap a BFA on my AR and get in on this.
We have something like this in Sweden to, Berget
Not really
What are you saying Blanks can be very, very dangerous. It is quite easy to end up seriously burning someone, damaging their ears or possibly killing them if you're close to someone's head/neck. Look, I do reenacting and we are constantly reminded how dangerous blanks can be. I watched some catch powder burns in the face from about 15 feet away. Please don't say that blanks "aren't dangerous", they are just as dangerous as a regular cartridge, it's just that they don't force out a projectile.
Well it's a good thing MSW has a 20 foot minimum engagement distance for blanks. Lmao they are not just as dangerous as a live cartridge. No where near. Also note that all blank guns must have a blank firing adapter to block the barrel for msw. No one is getting up close with a blank gun, we have airsoft guns for that.
within the first second of the video you can see my friend Jon's head on the right :v:
within the first second of the video you can see my friend Jon's head on the right :v:
His squad was with us a bunch. We had a squad vs squad wrestling match. He did not tell anyone he used to be a wrestler. Also went on a sneaky night raid with him and that was fun. He's a cool guy.

[editline]1st March 2016[/editline] Also keep in mind they all have BFAs which means you can basically have the muzzle against your hand and it'll do nothing.
As long as they have the blank adapters they're perfectly safe as long as they aren't grossly misused. Blank firing rifle with the BFA pictured from this event: [t]https://i.gyazo.com/0d110f08bd0db95b00fd17faf6b2d4a0.png[/t] Add in a minimum engagement range and safety checks to make sure BFA's and blank ammunition are being used and they're fine. The hearing damage thing is such a minor concern to me having shot guns without ear-pro in the past it's not like it will make you go deaf after a few shots, you have to regularly shoot firearms without ear-pro to cause lasting damage and most airsoft players wear ear protection. If not for the blank guns than generally for all the banger grenades and shit that are used liberally at these events. Obviously blanks can be dangerous. They can kill. No one is contesting that. But people seemed to imply that using them as an enhancement to the game was some deadly dangerous thing and as long as they're used properly they are perfectly safe.
