I think adds a bit of flavor.
Using the guns as a drum line alone doesn't really give flair. Adding in the strings gives it a bit of an edge.
Better than the ones I've seen, where they change the pitch of the guns. That's horrifying.

Serpento99 really set the bar for gun based beats. He's hard to beat.
