A friend of mine wanted some feedback for this video.
My god the nostalgia
My dad and I used to race each other on podracers every day when I was little, 6 or 7 years old I think.
I'm kind of surprised he didn't like Jedi Knight series multiplayer, that was the bomb with my friends.
The intro looked very LGR inspired kind of threw me off at first.
The commentary was okay, but there were some missing details in some parts and other unneeded details in others.
There was a rogue squadron game on the PC that he never mentioned "one for the N64 and two for the game-cube"
About Empire at War: mentioned the ground battles and galactic overview but no mention of the space battles
The specific unit from the Expansion of Empire at War was one of those unneeded details.
2 things.
1. Jedi academy multiplayer was pretty reasonable. I guess he seems pretty uneducated about the mater, seeing how jedi academy had a huge competitive multiplayer fan base. And the jedi academy movie battles is a very popular mod that is still played to this day.
2. His comments on star wars galaxies made me cringe. "The biggest gripe for me was the jedi class", "It takes so long to become a jedi, and it created a lot of hate for the game". Are you joking? The fact that not everyone was a jedi was one of the greatest charms about that game. I guess he doesn't know why star wars galaxies shut down then huh? The casualization of galaxies was what ultimately killed that game. And for some reason, that same mindset of "every1 can b a jedi!" was one of the reasons that the old republic was shit.
His voice is also too quiet and monotone.
Is he only doing popular games? Because that would explain a lot. There are a couple of good, more obscure games that he missed is what I mean by that.
Ugh the Star Wars Galaxies portion. Nothing about how there was no Jedi class to pick before NGE. You had to grind 4 professions, and then grind a 5th hidden profession (Out of 32 or so) to unlock a force sensitive character, and then grind your ass out on that to be any good. One Jedi could take on entire groups of people
NGE fucked that game all up man
No 'Episode 1: The Phantom Menace' on PS1? How dare he.
Also Jedi Starfigher was really hype, I used to play that shit for hours.
tell him to practice his edits and crossfades, they are incredibly noticeable. his "acting" is ok, but he probably could have rehearsed his lines a few more times to really get the commentary spot on. he fumbles throughout the video at various parts(specifically the intro). also, is his at a consistent distance from the microphone each take? it sounds like he gets a lot quieter after some cuts and then louder in others. he needs to make sure his presentation and mic distance is as consistent as possible no matter what. it might even be good practice to measure and write down where your mic is placed in the room and how far your mouth is from it just to make sure.
didnt talk about the starwarsi 3D wire arcade game ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_(1983_video_game) ), shit reviewer
Eh, this video was pretty bad.
Does not really do the Star Wars any justice really.
I about died at the SWG (Played it till it shut down), he completely missed what SWG was about.
SWG was a sandbox MMO built on the idea that you build your own saga. You become your own Star Wars Hero/Villain/etc, the way the game was built allowed that. 32 professions (Classes) to pick from, you can create any combination of classes to fit your own play style. The game was a very social game in the aspect that most events, communities were built by players on their own and not GM's. You played on your own terms and progressed various ways. Jedi was suppose to be hard to obtain to begin with, not only did you have to earn it (because during the original SWG pub 13 and older) jedi's were not very common, they got wiped out. Jedis at the time took a very long time to progress though and there was a risk of perma-death if you got killed/killed to many times. But on the off hand jedi was a very powerful class which only a smart person would engage in combat when needed because they run the risk of getting ganked. A jedi could very well take on a group of people without issue if they knew how they played. The game itself was fine, as long as SOE could put out content and fun things to do. However they literally tried to tap in to the WoW user-base to late in the game (WoW is losing subs at this time and continues to do so) and fucked everything SWG was original about. Ironically enough they killed SWG for TOR thinking that TORS closeness to WoW mechanics would capture and innovate and it is actually failing in its own way. Again at this point WoW is losing subs more then it was before during CU/NGE.
Though on the bright side, I've been playing SW games are always something to look forward too (besides a few exceptions).
Dark Forces 2 is still the best SW game.
Completely fucking skipped Galactic Battlegrounds and went to its successor.
I'm disappointed.

But that's not 3D, it's just isometric.

It still had a role in the development for Empire at war of being the base of most of the gameplay.
A lot of Empire at war was based off what they did with Galactic Battlegrounds.
Should have at least mentioned it.

SWG was a really unique MMO in that aspect. Funnily enough, pre-NGE/CU the WoW devs were actually worried that SWG might become a good competitor. So they effectively shot themselves in the foot by trying to turn into WoW.
Shame he didn't mention Shadows Of The Empire.

No mention of the early X-Wing/TIE Fighter/vs games either, and they were all fully fledged 3D games.
what about that starwars robot game where you built your own robots and you got parts throughout the game? what the hell was it called...
[editline]13th April 2013[/editline]
what the FUCK is the name of that fucking game. It's a PC one, probably released in the 90's. You start out at a junkyard or something, and some of the obstacles are simple ones like climbing a set of stairs
You collect parts which you use to overcome the obstacles
I miss old SWG.
I still feel like JtL is perhaps the best MMO expansion ever.

jedi outcast was my first real "online gaming experience", and possibly my favourite to this day.
i didnt know english very well at the time, hardly actually. i managed to join a clan which i stuck with for several years and made so many friends, and i eventually became the leader of the clan.
so many memories...
I'm going to play through Knights of the Old Republic while I'm on this nostalgia high.
RIP in peace Lucasarts. The video brought forth a manly tear.
No one has mention this yet.

Hell yes, real time space combat. Then the awesome ability to actually explore and furnish your space ship. I remember people made awesome yacht parties, my blacksun gunship had a interior set up after serenity from firefly.
wow this video
lucasarts hasn't made anything good recently and battlefront was developed by pandemic (they bit the dust back in 2009)
and republic commando was nothing like swat 4 or rainbow six. It was mainly just running and gunning with some tactical elements here.

I played the multiplayer on this to death, only reason I stopped playing was when they stopped supporting it on the MSN gaming zone.
Hero fest, mech fest, jedi fest.
Good times.
