The McCollough Effect is one of the strangest and most powerful illusions in history, and is capable of changing your perception of colour for up to 3.5 months, allegedly. Some of you may already have tried it and know what it is, but for those who don't, you are welcome to try using this video: I suggest you watch the whole video in fullscreen then take a look at your room. If it worked, it will look very different! If you do it for long enough, the effect can last days, and has been reported to last over three months. Some more information on this effect. Very little is known about why the McCollough effect works, other than that it's not just an optical illusion - it changes you on a neurological level. Here's a short video explaining it. To see if you're still affected by it, look at this image: [sp]If you turn your head sideways, the colours will flip![/sp] If it is black and white, it hasn't worked. Bear in mind there is no way to get rid of the effect! It will go away by itself after some time.
Watched the first video for the whole; actually worked. The lines also stay in your vision for about five minutes.
Did it Didnt expect the tint to be that strong, now lets see how long that lasts. The good thing is that i dont see any differently, except for those horizontal/vertical lines. Edit: So appareanty, only 15 minutes of induction can make this stay for 3.5 months. So guys, be careful if you dont want this for that long.
When I watched the video, I already saw a tint of red and a yellow/green'ish color when they showed the black and white image the first time \:v:/
Im going to wait half an hour, I'll then post if i still have the effect.

So if you do it for longer your only run the risk of having it last for fucking ages :v:

The lines are gone from my sight, but i see those lines still as green/pink. It doesnt seem to affect anything else.

As for the general 'oh fuck everything is faintly pink', I got used to that after thirty minutes.
I have done this twice and I still don't notice any change anywhere except that original picture.
I don't know if I want to go through with this. I'm fine with the way I see colours as they are right now, thanks.

oh god i have a horrible headache now
well i'll be damned
ech kinda worked
I can see it, but it's not that sensational, although i kinda have a stomach ache now.
Weird, didn't feel anything and neither has anything changed.
If it's not working, try doing it for longer, getting closer to the screen, staring more intently, etc. If it really doesn't work, then you're impervious to mind control. I'm kinda the opposite, this was fucking up my regular vision for nearly an hour
So it's been an hour and the effect is still kinda going strong. I watched it for 3 minutes.
I only see a grid hovering everywhere now.. Thanks Obama.
I don't see this anywhere else than the test image not even other images of black and white grating.
I watched the video twice on full screen. The gridlines appear to be slightly tinted green and red, but nothing in my room looks different (my wall is white brick with horizontal lines across it, and my window blinds don't look different either). I guess it may just affect people differently.
Only seems to work on that image, did 2x3 minutes. that image looks pretty nice with it
Watched the video for 3 minutes and then pussied out, the effect lasted less than 5 minutes I think.
Watched the video for 3 minutes and then pussied out, the effect lasted less than 5 minutes I think.
It's been like 45 minutes and it's still not gone for me .-.
I did this before for two minutes, I think it lasted 5 days. This time I did the full 5 minutes, lets see how long it lasts.
I did it for like 2 minutes 3 weeks ago, I'm still seeing it.
So how much does this actually effect you on a day-to-day basis? Like, does it make anything hard to do, or does it just make your vision more interesting?
This is crazy
The effect is very, very faint for me [editline]6th September 2014[/editline] Watched the images for 3 minutes, effect is gone after one minute.
How weird, the green lines are blue for me, not green. I also had that effect (but fainter) before I even watched the video.
