Found this while listening to Simple Man. Am I the only one who thinks if Dale Earnhardt used the cross seatbelts his accident could of been easily non-fatal?

I don't know, didn't he have a heart attack before he hit the wall? Even if so, possibly.
If I remeber correctly from what they said in the press report the belt on his only seatbelt shattered, and when he hit the wall he got thrown forward, and then thrown back hard against his seat snapping his neck.
Fucking sad.
Did Fireball Roberts get that name before or after he burst into flames?

He went head on with the wall after he got stuck on the other car. he didn't have the neck safety thing on because you didn't have to back then. He hit the wall and his head went forward and snapped pretty much killing him instantly.
Don McTavish, Don Williams, Bruce Jacobi... WOW :/
RIP, doing what they loved.
Man that's just sad :ohdear:
Some of those were really brutal
Man, some of those were really horrific
Didn't know there was so many, the only one I ever hear about is Earnhardt
RIP number 3.

When he slowed down his car ignited, and in hand set him on fire. He didn't die from burning to death though... The fumes choked him of air, and suffocated him in the car.

Pardon me for being an asshole but isn't this the only reason people watch NASCAR
I have nothing but respect for these men. So I will compile videos of their deaths and upload it to Youtube.

That joke is tasteless, insulting and fucking horrible.
But I'm so going to hell for laughing at it.
Couldn't help but notice if the cars were right wheel drive, some of these people would have lived.
Those crashes were awesome. Especially the ones with the nifty explosions.
Dont call me insensitive, these men knew the risk when they did this for a living.
Wow, that Don MacTavish one was terrible. Car ripped in half, then he was exposed and got hit head-on. Jesus.
I personally find NASCAR boring but you gotta respect that it's stupidly dangerous and they risk their lives doing it. Formula 1 has been around longer but there hasn't been nearly as many fatalities I don't believe...

Or if he wore the same helmet everyone else wore. His had an open face where everyone else wore a helmet that was completely closed... So he hit his wheel with his head and died, basically
I wanna go fast.
Did they all die? They really didn't invest in safety back then..
I don't get how you guys can just watch videos of people dying.
Pardon me for being an asshole but isn't this the only reason people watch NASCAR
Unfortunately, a (I'm assuming this) chunk of people who watch this and similar racing events (or stunts, planes, cars, boats etc) watch them to see some poor guy get smashed up or blown to bits. It's in our nature to want to see some destruction.

The video isn't called, "Nascar Legends - Fatal Racing Accidents" for nothing.
I don't like NASCAR but I do respect the drivers, they have serious balls of steel to do what they do.

Maybe I'm a desensitized prick, but I can stomach almost anything. Especially the videos of the people killing themselves and whatnot.

If you can go 200MPH on a 4 lane highway with 42 other people within 200 feet of your car and not fuck up, you've got balls of steel.
