I've met numerous otherkin and I really do believe it is a mental disorder of the highest form.
Otherkins generally band up in to their own little social cliques and will attack/ignore anyone outside of it, unless they claim to be otherkin. They talks for hours about how their other/past form was super special and had super powers etc and if you say that's stupid then they pretend to be a spirit sparkle dog with 4 dicks and start barking/howling at you until you leave.
Like most fandoms, they alienate themselves to their own little hugbox that reassures their beliefs (i'm a fucking frost dragon!!@) which leads to socially inept weirdos that genuinely believe they're normal/correct and cant comprehend why someone would think otherwise. In their little groups they create their own set of rules and social norms, like wearing cats ears/tails, using pack-style hierarchies (sometimes with the sexual element attached) and other weird shit.

It's really sad how things that are legitimately stressful and terrible burdens to some people are stolen by other people and tarnished all for the sake of attention and perceived superiority. "Triggers" are a very real thing for people suffering from PTSD. Some people literally cannot function in everyday life because the slightest reminder of their horrible traumatic experience will send them into an uncontrollable panic attack.
And then you have these idiots who take that concept and use it to police other people and legitimize their strange, special-snowflake condition. Yeah I agree, I didn't mean to say that triggering events and discussions do not exist. Talking about rape to a rape victim or the details of a gruesome murder to a girl who watched her mom get murdered is generally a dickish thing to do. It just seems now, no one can talk about anything without offending somebody. It's a real shame because it's spreading to educational institutions where new ideas are supposed to be appreciated.
