I have heard multiple instances of this happening Very scary
http://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/12q6wu/2012_voting_machine_altering_votes/ CNN has picked the story up.
oh god that's fucking terrible!
That is hilarious.
Question is, is it intentional, or is it just an awful touch screen?
It's only been reported on this machine so it could just be a faulty screen, you'd think more people would bring it up - no?
It's an awful touch screen with incredibly sensationalist headlines hyping it. They're $10 touch screens.
Reporting in this thread
I'm just wondering what happens if you press Jill Stein. On low tech touchscreens if you press on grid 4,4 and 2,2 with another finger it's likely to signal 3,3 because it thinks your two fingers is one big finger.

Question is, is it intentional, or is it just an awful touch screen?
My bet would be on an awful touch screen. Basic touch screens like that tend to skew a bit after a while. One of our voting machines did this months ago. Just tap Jill Stein on that if you want to vote for your lord and savior.
Obongo can't even take care of dem voting contraptions cause he's playing blackball. Mitt Romney 2012.
The touchscreen is fine. Its just rigged.
even machines know obongo is up to no good nobama 2012
pretty obvious way of rigging the election really, you would think they would hopefully come up with something a bit more sly if it was
The touchscreen is fine. Its just rigged.
Yes, we'll rig the machine so it obviously displays the vote we're rigging. So.. you know.. people can report it and stuff. Fucking genius. Probably just a borked machine. I'd like to see if does the same thing on other pages. The uploader can write off being an engineer all he wants by seeing the whole screen was off-set and testing 'active areas,' but he didn't test any other pages or provide anything other than a short video with some weird cutting at the end. (Which was due to a phone cam, totally understandable.) While the potential is there, I'm not bought on this singular case at all. :v:
It's obviously the touch screen. Why do you think they didn't show them clicking on anyone else? I bet you that if he clicked on Jill Stein it would have selected Obama. That's because that specific touch screen is miscalibrated and so whatever you press on, it thinks you pressed about half an inch above that. I mean for fucks sake I've experienced this myself with shitty touch screens in public, stop acting like you live in a god damn fascist state. Do you think if they were actually rigging votes, that they would show the vote being changed to the person casting it?
Maybe if you'd read this guys description you would see that it was not a calibration error. Taken from his Reddit post:
I'm the guy who shot the video, hopefully this doesn't get burried. You guys have questions, I have answers. My wife and I went to the voting booths this morning before work. There were 4 older ladies running the show and 3 voting booths that are similar to a science fair project in how they fold up. They had an oval VOTE logo on top center and a cartridge slot on the left that the volunteers used to start your ballot. I initially selected Obama but Romney was highlighted. I assumed it was being picky so I deselected Romney and tried Obama again, this time more carefully, and still got Romney. Being a software developer, I immediately went into troubleshoot mode. I first thought the calibration was off and tried selecting Jill Stein to actually highlight Obama. Nope. Jill Stein was selected just fine. Next I deselected her and started at the top of Romney's name and started tapping very closely together to find the 'active areas'. From the top of Romney's button down to the bottom of the black checkbox beside Obama's name was all active for Romney. From the bottom of that same checkbox to the bottom of the Obama button (basically a small white sliver) is what let me choose Obama. Stein's button was fine. All other buttons worked fine. I asked the voters on either side of me if they had any problems and they reported they did not. I then called over a volunteer to have a look at it. She him hawed for a bit then calmly said "It's nothing to worry about, everything will be OK." and went back to what she was doing. I then recorded this video. EDIT: There is a lot of speculation that the footage is edited. I'm not a video guy, but if it's possible to prove whether a video has been altered or not, I will GLADLY provide the raw footage to anyone who is willing to do so. The jumping frames are a result of the shitty camera app on my Android phone, nothing more. EDIT2: I have been contacted by NBC Universal and BBC News. EDIT3: A lot of news agencies are now messaging me here. Please email centralpavote@gmail.com instead. EDIT4: This has blown up and I'm being bombarded by the media. I'm taking the second half of the day off and will be home in about 1 hour to start responding to the media. Uncalibrated touch screen

Taken from his Reddit post: Source: http://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/12q6wu/2012_voting_machine_altering_votes/
uh that doesn't mean shit, it could still be a calibration error.
