Freud laid the foundation of the modern psychology as a field of scientific study. That's about the only thing Freud did that's still relevant to the field of psychology today. His theories were a jumble of coke-induced guesstimates and patriarchal nonsense wrought by a sexual deviant that placed waay to much emphasis on sexuality and repressed fetishism. You can't really blame the guy when you consider the context of his historical situation (the zeitgeist of his time, if you will) but what infuriates me is that some people that have no idea about anything regarding psychology still think his less crazy research and theories are still relevant to this day. It really bothers me when media and newspapers point to Freud to explain behaviour. It's all been proven false by contemporary scientists, and the "science" of his work is archaic at best. At worst, it's regressive, damaging to society and idiotic. He did have an impeccable sense of style though
