https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/tower-unite#/story They're trying it again, but this time on indiegogo, and Greenlight. Best of luck to them I say.
I hope it gets funded. I never really played Gmod Tower but this looks like a great alternative to Second life.
hope they make it

I'm really glad they're going for it again and I might back it. Anyone else feel like Tower Unite is a weird name though?
Promising start with over 5K in only one hour. Hopefully it keeps that momentum. Also, a playable demo of some sort is on its way (20th of this month, I believe).
I hope this time they can properly advertise the game. They need proof of concepts for this type of idea. Right now this is being advertised as playstation home 2.0 when they should be focusing on the gaming aspects and showing that off. This just isn't a wildly popular idea, specially outside of modding.
What happened to the "First" attempt? Did they not make as much as they needed?
if they keep this steady rate of 5k per hour this could be easily done in 10 hours
What happened to the "First" attempt? Did they not make as much as they needed?
They asked for 100k USD, which failed. This time, it is 50K USD.
if they keep this steady rate of 5k per hour this could be easily done in 10 hours
You have to remember though that this is now half their original budget (which they didn't reach in the original campaign either.) It's also unlikely they will keep this pace up, there is always an initial surge, a secondary surge then it's all uphill or downhill from there. But this time they have an ace in the hole. Indiegogo allows them to not even have to reach the requested amount, and they will still receive all the funds. So be super careful putting your money into this. Less money then projected usually means they will release a shoddier product or none at all. They aren't under any obligations to finish it with Indiegogo either. I know people say don't call it investing.. but that is literally what this is. It's not that I don't like the idea of the game, but we don't know if these people can't manage their funds.
What happened to the "First" attempt? Did they not make as much as they needed?
They did Kickstarter, which only gives you the money if you get funded fully.
Second Life has the worst fucking community The people who take it way too seriously are disgusting
You can say the same about any community. It all depends on who you talk to.
There is now a playable alpha of the Ball Race game world. http://forums.pixeltailgames.com/t/ball-race-alpha-demo-is-live/553
Second Life has the worst fucking community The people who take it way too seriously are disgusting
i got banned from the biggest social hotspot for being a 'troll' when all i did was make a really disgusting looking character using the default model because i didnt know how to do anything :v:
Contributed this time. Last time I felt was a silly amount. This feels more reasonable.

Put in my $20, I'd really like to see that closed beta. [editline]16th July 2015[/editline] I couldn't donate last time since kickstarter kept declining my card, but this time I can just use paypal money, hopefully more people can do the same as me.
I have a bad feeling this won't be as popular as it should be because it's no longer connected to Gmod.
I have a bad feeling this won't be as popular as it should be because it's no longer connected to Gmod.
Part of what made GMT great was that it was a free gamemode. I don't think this will be anywhere near as popular, even though it looks better in some ways.
The campaign's being funded at a good pace right now. It'll probably hit the first one's numbers in the next few days. I imagine the steam greenlight campaign is really helping it out.
Apparently, Tower Unite is ranked #4 out of all active Steam Greenlight titles at the moment. I'm sure it has been helping a fair bit.

I hope this gets funded.
I hope this gets funded.
"Flexible Funding: This campaign will receive all funds even if it doesn't reach it's goal."
"Flexible Funding: This campaign will receive all funds even if it doesn't reach it's goal."
As a backer, it requires a paypal/whatever transaction to back, whereas a kickstarter, it uses a pledge, and only charges if the goal is reached
tower unite just got greenlit!
Closed Alpha's out for backers, it seems. I just got my key in an email.
I'm in between funding this project so I can support and get some nice swag saying I supported to others, or card packs in hearthstone. I say in between because while I respect this project, I question it's longevity during alpha, early access, and post release. I don't know if it would be wise to put $20 in a project that has a chance of being dead, it's happened before with interesting and solid projects.
