This is the person who had lots of videos about the old prototype. Valve sent him the new one and he started putting up vids again. I preordered one of these without thinking much about it, so I suppose it's probably a good idea to at least see what I'm getting. It sounds great though. Something about the fighting game controller video, he obviously means it differently I guess, but he says something along the lines of not doubting someone could use it competitively. Someone could probably use it to a high degree of skill, but it looks like the Steam Controller is wireless and I think most fighting game tournaments don't allow wireless controllers due to them not unsyncing properly and people who aren't playing can ruin games. I'd like to see him playing a first or third person shooter, an RPG and an Arkham style action game but so far it's not looking so great.
Thought he was gonna play the game he had loaded up and preview in the top left corner in the first video... nope.
Thought he was gonna play the game he had loaded up and preview in the top left corner in the first video... nope.
around 5:30 he was about to but since he took the batteries out it reset and wouldn't pair back up. He said he couldn't go back and remake the whole video just to show that one bit off. Maybe one day he'll learn you can splice different takes into videos even in windows movie maker
I just hate how the left trackpad has the d-pad pattern on it. Looks like a waste to have the trackpad be limited. Or well, sure looks like it limits the potential since you can't use it as an "analog stick" because of the pattern getting in the way as you move your thumb.
The first video gets impossibly quiet after a few minutes.

The pattern is apparently very subtle.

All the games so far tested with the steam controller are pretty much mouse orientated games like FPS, Strategy.
There's a Rocket League video above. He dives into that at 6 minutes.
