It's hard to believe Half-Life 2 is almost ten years old now. I remember downloading this video from PlanetHalfLife when I was 13 and becoming obsessed.
Holy crap Gamespy.
this gets posted every few months or so - it's still awesome
remember when you were awed by these graphics?
Ah, the memories.
Soooo ahead of its time.
Wow, I can't believe it's been almost 200 years since Half Life 2 came out. I wasn't even an immortal being when I first played it. Still waiting on HL3
Still amazing as fuck.

Maybe it's just me but HL2 is still the only game I have played that has flawless lip syncing
I play through these maps every couple of months or so. The Half-Life 2 leak is such an interesting thing.
When this video came out and I saw it on a demo disc age 8, my only experience of Half-Life was of repeatedly playing up to the resonance cascade in HL1 because I was too scared of the aliens to keep going.

I was awed by them in 2008 - I had shit computers up until that point.

Are you me?
Oh man, I can't fucking wait for this game to come out, it's been so long since Half Life.
I love the banter from the audience.

This. Fucking this.
With Half-Life 2 I would just go through the train station and walk around city 17 for a bit. I was too scared of the CP to go further.
I remember downloading this video the day it was released on the net, I still have it on my old hard drive. The Strider reveal made me shit my pants as a kid.
Half Life has come along way, hasn't it.
Holy fuck I feel so much nostalgia
i still remember having a magazine with hl2 beta pictures, but its gone and i don't remember anything, apart that it existed
Gotta love the back and forth about the i486
I remember getting a cd with all the E3 footage from my copy of Condition Zero. Shit was so amazing.
I have a friend who never got to play the game when it came out and only played it this year, so he found the game super dull and boring. Guess it's one of those games that's best appreciated right as it's released.
And to think Half Life 3 still isn't even mentioned by Valve a decade later
Source may be outdated, but I still think it looks pretty realistic compared to a lot of other games.

I was terrified when I saw the vortigaunts for the first time, loaded an earlier save and found out the cheats so I would use impulse 101 on an earlier game and just kill scientists.
I used to cheat a lot in Quake, this and other games - but I'll still remember HL for how it made me stop cheating as a kid
- I was flying around with noclip on one of the inbound levels with the MP5, blowing up people with the GL until I shot another guard with it and the game crashed. At the time, I was young so I thought i fucked something up bad, so I ended up playing the game without cheating despite my fears.

I played through Half Life a few years ago and enjoyed the hell out of it and even more than my first time playing through it, I even thought it was better than HL2. Then I played through it again a few months ago and hated it because the marines were a pain the ass to kill and Xen is an absolute chore to play through
18:38 - was valve toying with a weapon limit in HL2 or was that just something they did for dramatic effect in the E3 demo?

Dramatic effect.

It was reasonable of them to not want to work again on such a huge project like Half Life 2.
But the episodes also turned out to be a bad idea. They also make lots of mistakes.
As far as I can remember I know that Gabe was really worried about his colleagues, when they worked on Half Life 2 after 2003.
About their health, stresslevel and so on.
I love Half-life 2, Even if it's currently not being developed.. :3
It seems like the beta had a huge reliance on bloom that wasn't kept in the original retail release.
I wonder why that happened.
