Pie hits the nail on the head every time
When he lists all those Trump controversies I realized how fucked up things have become. It seems like what would normally qualify as totally normal people have lost a grip on what is acceptable and decent behavior. What makes this even more frightening is that we can see this trend all over the western world, from Trump to Ukip and Front National to the Sweden Democrats. I try to stay away from "doomsday" predictions, but it feels like we are watching the collapse of our political system and people don't care. We are left with neoliberal robots or fascist demagogues and in the few places we can find some humanity we get told we're unrealistic, or we're cucks, or we should fall in line. Even if Trump gets kicked out of office we need to find a way to mend the divides in our society that grow deeper with every day. Otherwise I fear we will get another "Trump" sooner rather than later. Maybe I'm just melodramatic and this is just my first encounter with the hopelessness of being an adult, but it feels like something is breaking and I'm unable to do anything to change that.
Politics isn't about compromise anymore, its about "fuck you my team won". You see it a lot in this country, the idea of a tory voter even considering a Labour point of view is unthinkable and vice versa. Its just more noticeable for us young people because the Tory/Republican parties do not work for our benefit. They are the parties of the elderly.
It's almost as if people have forgotten that the entire point of a democracy is being able to make compromises. You know, I sometimes wonder if our generation will be the next one that future generations will look to and say "Damn, those guys did a lot of good shit." Because right now, the older generations seem to do everything in their power to fuck shit up just to make themselves feel a little better, which will leave us with the job of cleaning up their mess.
Pie hits the nail on the head every time
Pie is the new daily show
That moment when a comedian's character is more down to earth than the governments the character is reporting on. Pie sits on a fine line between funny and "fuck me is this really happening".
