A pop screen can't block everything and there's also some noise they can't get out that's diminished by distance.

I personally don't use a pop screen. I just turn off anything with a fan (besides my computer) and record with my mic by the side of my mouth. It works well when you can't afford anything fancy (or chickenwire and pantyhose, for that matter)
