i wouldnt feel comfortable with some dude walking around my neighborhood with an AR15. i know hes trying to keep the place safe and all, but damn dude, why not just become a police officer instead?
Doesn't help that he actually looks nothing close to a guard or operator.

These wanna-be operator dudes who troll around with cheap AR-15s and military surplus gear just make everyone uncomfortable and look stupid themselves. If you want to do a neighborhood watch I'm pretty sure you'd be more effective just taking your dog for a walk with a concealed carry, and that's assuming you even think it's necessary to be armed. Under what circumstance is he going to use that AR-15? "Hey, you damn kids! Quit skateboarding in our neighborhood basketball court or I'll shoot!"?
didn't last long
Dude's IQ seems near or sub-80 (assuming IQ is accurate). Perhaps he has a learning disability?

Kinda feel bad for the guy tbh. He seems to be actually trying, but he just isn't smart enough to do right stuff properly.
What does one single guy "patrolling" gonna do anyway to make the neighborhood safer.
This guy could've done a better job by just selling security cameras to the homes and setting up burglar alarms along with generally just being a whole lot nicer about the patrols by not going around with guns and stuff, really all you'd need is something not too similar to what community support officers would use around here which is a radio(?) to contact further support if you find anything suspicious or needing further assistance. Maybe that's what he was aiming for? Shame he's given up on it though but the media catching wind of it basically ruined the whole thing from even evolving to that level. On the plus side that street was "safe" for at least a day or two whilst the media was also there.
Dude's IQ seems near or sub-80 (assuming IQ is accurate). Perhaps he has a learning disability?
how is this relevant?
I get that he probably had good intentions but it kinda comes off as an excuse to walk around showing off his gear lol
Dude's IQ seems near or sub-80 (assuming IQ is accurate). Perhaps he has a learning disability?
holy shit could you be any more judgmental
But guys, he totally nailed tactical pointing look at that form
This guy is more militarized than the police
Why the knife
Why the knife
occasionally threes a cardboard box taped shut with tape too tough for keys
Why the knife
It's handy-dandy like he said
Some people are too into this sort of thing
Pretty sure that guy is the perfect example of gung-ho fanatic that the police really doesn't need or want
He legitimately sounded like he wanted to help, probably figured since he got discharged from the army that would be the best way he could help out. I don't know, he just didn't come off as the crazy type
The guy admitted his plan was misguided and fixed it by joining a proper neighbourhood watch group instead, so it seems his intentions are good, he just didn't understand what walking around in all this gear looked like to his neighbours.
He would probably come off much differently if he wore a yellow/orange safety vest instead of a camouflaged mag carrier.
I've seen a few people open-carrying AR-15s and I'll admit it makes me a little nervous even as someone who owns one. I just don't see the point. Yeah, you have the right to do it and all but I dunno, just doesn't seem like the best solution to this problem. And besides, I wouldn't want someone trying to stop a crime with an AR-15 unless it was an emergency, like if there just happened to be one there and it was the difference between life and death, there's just a big potential for injuring bystanders. If you wanna do some armed neighborhood watch, conceal-carry a pistol or pack a more compact rifle/PDW in a backpack.
If he was wearing high-vis stuff and not cradling his gun all the time he probably would not have been given such a hard time. Should try for the national guard.
Just having people in the neighborhood owning guns is good enough, we don't need a militia man to guard us. [editline]30th September 2016[/editline]
What does one single guy "patrolling" gonna do anyway to make the neighborhood safer.
He's just making himself a target, one armed dude like this won't make a difference. He's just endangering himself.
the armchair psychologists are back!
I mean his IQ assessment is kind of random but the guy is clearly a bit of a simpleton. He can barely speak and if you're familiar with.. Stupid people, he's ticking all the boxes.

I think I get what he was going for, but I don't think a rifle or something like that is necessarily the right way to do it. If you're gonna open carry, but you don't want to scare people go for something like a pistol in a holster at your hip. If you're driving around, carry something bigger in your car. Make sure you're also wearing something easily identifiable while you're at it.

Judging by his demeanor it's as if he wanted to dress up and play military without all the pain and bullshit that goes with it.
