Why does he have a life-size figurine of a transgenered MJ
Wow that was horrible, the part with the exciting kid.
But yeah i thought this was going to be about the official Minecon (i would not be surprised if it was)

News 12 did a report on the scam.
My friend said he went and regretted it. Sucks that there are no refunds available.
For those who think 'tl;dw', here's all the shit about the con:
- Con was delayed 3-4 months because of 'red tape'.
- Convention opened 20 minutes late (no big deal) and closed after 2 hours (bigger deal).
- Every single check bounced.
- None of the giveaways happened (PS4s, MC Lego, Alienware computers), with the exception of one PS4 (out of a promised 10, which apparently went to a kid who said 'herobrine' 5 times) and boxes of pens were given away (no, really).
- The venue wasn't dressed at all (and I really mean 'not dressed at all').
- A contest for 'youtube stars' was a complete disaster and probably crushed many a child's dream (the clip he shows is just awful to watch in retrospect).
- Refunds were offered but anyone who paid with Paypal is probably fucked over because of the 30-day dispute rule.
- The host apparently has another one set up in NY but it's not happening and also not possible to get a refund.
- The host appears to have pocketed somewhere around 40k dollars from the first event and who knows how much from the second one.
- There's also a 20 minute video that's apparently even worse to watch.

Why wouldn't you?
How... Is this even real? This just doesn't seem real.
God damn this guy is taking so fucking long to explain this shit.
He keeps repeating shit like i didn't hear it the first 3 times

"I'll be coming back to that in a minute"
I just let the video roll in the background and I barely understood what this idiot even was talking about.
Aren't every minecraft related thing a scam? It has always has been since this free minecraft account bullcrap.
This is why you go to public cons and not this shady shit. I'm glad it turned out to be a scam.

I thought that too, but bebopvox has been a huge person in the minecraft community and working with charities for the community, events, working with kids, all that stuff and he's been doing it for years, and YT is not his job.
I've followed him for years so it's understandable from his perspective to talk about a group of scumbags taking advantage of the young kids who he's worked so much with.
He also took the time to research it before doing anything so of course it's going to take a bit to explain because he's getting all the facts he has across.
Honestly, I think it looked pretty fake just using some common sense when looking at the ads.
I feel sorry for the kids cause they don't know better, but the parents really should have been more skeptical.
so the owner is claiming it wasn't a scam

Here is the video of the convention in link form, because I am a scrub at hotlinking videos:

That mannequin doe
That photography sure did make it look good.

Looking at this objectively. I don't think it was intended as a scam. At $50 a ticket, the apology letter (Which is extremley long and detailed so I think it is sincere), and just how the minecraft community is, I think it was a honest attempt made by some inexperienced people.
Trying to run a Minecraft convention just sounds like hell to begin with. The combination with all the ages you have to please, bratty kids/ignorant parents, and desperate youtube stars..... It's not hard to imagine some guy and his wife got in way over their heads trying to throw on a event by promising too much.
They probably did lie about the sponsorships though, and were hoping they could segway with a mediorce event.

fix it for you
In the website they still fail to mention that they lied about big sponsorships and some "famous" guy who was supposed to show up (who didn't exist.) It's hard to believe that this wasn't a scam, or that "EVERYTHING" was stolen.
WOW that video. If this wasnt a scam, it was a badly set up (and badly executed) event.

I can't believe someone made this.
Who allows a guy to bring a giant green penis to a convention full of kids?

Took me a second to realize this was just shitty face-paint. Thought he just put on black face.
It looks less like a convention and more like a daycare. Not mostly because of the of kids but because how little there is to do there.
Looking at the pictures posted it doesn't look like much of a scam, just a very poorly planned event. It definitely doesn't look like something that would cost the claimed $50k though.
I bet the place did get trashed thoroughly. A bunch of little kids that are obsessed with minecraft, what were they expecting?
[QUOTE=Die_Hard;44364877]so the owner is claiming it wasn't a scam

Wow, that post is so unprofessional and childish.
Blame everyone but yourself, constantly suggest your attendees were aggressive thieves. He even calls out some people by name and comments on the content of their Facebook pages to try and smear them.

Joke aside I think it's a Lara Croft statue with a bunch of stuff added on it.
