Quality post right here, care to tell me more about that?
what shame its just a fucking big fire
It's the symbolism behind it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympic_flame

where do you see a homophobic person in this video?
what shame its just a fucking big fire
That fire travelled from Greece to Russia only for it to be lightened up again from a lighter.
It is a big fucking shame.

Its just a fire
"Hey, your arm is on fire!"
"Don't worry, it's just a fire"

oh ok
i forgot about him
i need to wash my eyes
Just look at that face, i can see every phobia he has
If folks were super-superstitious, then this would be a sign of the coming Olympics being "cursed". And considering how Russia probably doesn't deserve to host this celebration of equality and sportsmanship, I really wish it was cursed; a succession of sporting accidents, paranormal events and spirit-dampening misfortunes would certainly make an example of the kinds of folks who think cracking gay skulls is acceptable.
Its just a fire
Then what's the fucking point of doing all this?
Might as well just bring a lighter to the stadium and light the main torch directly right?
Are you too daft to understand the simbolism of all this or what?
foreshadowing

I understand the symbolism just fine. I think its neat that the torch has been has been around the globe and as an a fellow athlete I can appreciate the Olympics and the unifying effect it brings by pitting nations of the world against each other in athletic competition
But to me, its just a fire, its a simply combustion reaction. Its not like the fuel in it is from Mt. Olympus brought to this world by Zeus on a lightning bolt.
Holy shit that poor guy carrying it when it went out ;_;
Fun fact: The torch relay was actually started by the Nazis during their Berlin Olympics.

It really shouldn't, I mean I always see you facepunchers talking about how symbolism is meaningless ie defacing the american flag, burning the Quran, defacing Washington monument, raising a swastika/confederate flag, ect. How is this any different?
reminds me of that king of the hill episode where hank accidentally slips and puts out his Olympic torch out in a puddle, then feels guilty when he relights it with a match.

But Dale lit his cigarette with it so he uses Dale's cig to relight it.

oh right, havent seen it in ages.
wow, they clearly hate anything that's flaming over there, huh
why is everyone acting like this is a big deal
the olympic torch goes out quite a bit during the relays, that's why there are people on the route with lighters.
where do you see a homophobic person in this video?
They're Russians, the vast majority of people in that video are homophobes

Maybe some are closet ones
Whatever, it's not my buisness caring about this
Slavic nations are some of the most homophobic and racist ones on the planet. I would know, my parents are from Poland.
Whoever is in charge of design is doing a good job, those torches look cool and the medals are awesome
