lol i love it how they booed the girl that shouted freedom of speech come on man
I remember this. Way older than 20th October though.
Bunch of sheeple crowding into be herded to have their heads cut off. If only.
This is so weird, why is that professor playing a video that starts playing 'Gay Bar' a few seconds in? It says amateur video but it looks like a mess of random images like you'd find on YouTube.
It's actually from like 2009 or 2010. Yeah, this happened over 2 and a half years ago... :v:
Holy crap man. The white folks in the front row..that is the epitome of awkward.

So many police officers, good thing they were all there.
welcome to sweden
Any radical/extremist or just occasionally aggressive person like this should not have the freedom to stop films like that from playing. If you can't take criticism, grow up and stop throwing a whiny, childish fit over things that don't even infringe on your rights.
Thing is, this happens all the time in Sweden. Maybe not as radical as this, but the muslims in Sweden (Or in general) are easily offended and always have to let people know about it somehow.
I hope this doesn't sound racist or anything (because I am not one), but this is exactly the reason why muslims should stay in their countries and the same reason we shouldn't live in Islamic countries, especially since Christianity and Islam are like 2 incompatible things. When 2 absolutely different religions and mindsets collide, this bullshit happens. All over, what, a silly video?

You don't have to respect people's views that conflict with yours, you don't even have to accept them, but any civil person knows that tolerance is a basic life skill. Throwing tempertantrums over opposing opinions is a child's act.

In most of the videos they're overly religious, take every single thing on a personal level and freak out over the slightest thing. Also, I can't help but feel like this wouldn't have had happened if there was no religion in our world. I'm not saying religion is bad, but a situation like this could have been avoided, had humanity never thought of religion.

If there's one thing I learned in this life it's that stupid people speak the loudest. There's a lot more common sense amongst the silent majority.

I haven't died yet. Allahu Akbar. Edit: The point I'm trying to make is that one group of maybe 5, 10, or even 1000 Muslims doesn't represent the 1,000,000,000 Muslims that exists on this planet.
Lars Vilks is a cunt Why did they even show that video? It was just amateur slideshow with 'gay bar' in the background. How is it educational at all?
these people are fucking savages, they should be killed. I'm glad these extremist nutjobs are getting killed off in afghanistan.
If Muslims feel deeply offended when it comes to these types of videos degrading his prophet, then why crowd them up in a room and play it for them? This is fucking stupid.
If Muslims feel deeply offended when it comes to these types of videos degrading his prophet, then why crowd them up in a room and play it for them? We've had similar incidents in Denmark, although prior to this one. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jyllands-Posten_Muhammad_cartoons_controversy
If Muslims feel deeply offended when it comes to these types of videos degrading his prophet, then why crowd them up in a room and play it for them? This is fucking stupid.
This presentation was a part of the seminar held by Swedish artist Lars Vilks (you might know him for his drawings of Muhammed from 2007) at Uppsala Universitet in 2010. Prior to the seminar Vilks had generated a lot of hatred from most Muslim fundamentalists and that is probably the reason why they all gathered to the seminar; to spew hatred on Vilks and his creations. That is also probably the reason for the amount of cops on the location. Here's some of the controversial drawings of Muhammed: I think, if I'm not mistaken, that Vilks made the drawings as a way to show the boundary of free speech as an argument against religious fundamentalism and extremism. [editline]21st October 2012[/editline] I don't know very much about the whole Vilks drama/situation, but hopefully I made some things a bit more clear. Here's some info on the lecture day from wiki
On 11 May 2010, Muslim protesters assaulted Vilks while he was giving a lecture about free speech at Uppsala University. The attacks started when a film about Islam and homosexuality that had been banned from YouTube was shown. The film in question was Iranian artist Sooreh Hera's Allah ho gaybar. Vilks' glasses were broken but he did not suffer any serious injuries, and was escorted to safety by security, while a few of the protesters were detained by police. Despite previous death threats, this was the first time violence against Vilks occurred.[19]
Someone should really change the title. [editline]21st October 2012[/editline]
Lars Vilks is a cunt Why did they even show that video? Maybe the reason for the slideshow was to show viewers the anger that is provoked from themselves; in hope to make them see how absurd it is to be insulted over something like this. Maybe.
I don't find either side to be really tolerant of each other. Nobody is right here, showing a video clearly intended to offend Muslims is not the right way to talk against Muslim extremists. The people there weren't most likely extremists to begin with, it's a reaction you could get out of showing a video of defacing a Christian church in front of a Christian crowd. Whether or not is the reaction appropriate, and in most cases it isn't, it's the reaction you'll get, and to not have foreseen it is very naive.
It was like someone had flipped a switch and chaos ensued. Sheep mentality by the looks of it, one starts the rest follow.

They chose to be there god damn it. They not being aware of Vilks is unlikely due to the media surrounding him in Sweden. Since flagdog isn't working i'll just hope you aren't from Sweden. Since anyone here would be aware of Vilks and his work by now.
It really just looks like the video was trying to piss people off.
A lot of people dont understand why Muslims are offended by the depiction of their prophet, but it makes sense for their culture. The pillars of Islam require stronger and more devoted faith than the majority of other religions. Because they see Allah and by extension the prophet Muhammad as truly limitless even to attempt to imagine, much worse depict, them in an earthly body is considered blasphemy. I am not in any way trying to say that religious extremism is justified, but I can understand why they would be offended. Most people would just shrug off an insult to their faith (or lack thereof), but most people do not have faith so ingrained into their culture and self identity. I find it amazing that so many people get up in arms when someone does something against LGBTQ individuals, women, etc. Then support anti-Islamic statements/videos/images (although I know why Vilks would do it). Both parties are in the wrong here.
