"I declare these streets, any streets, my vagina's country."
hot damn this is the greatest piece of poetry in the world
[editline]13th June 2015[/editline]
and what's the terminator doing in vancouver
While I generally detest Rebel Media (it's run by Ezra Levant; look him up, he's a fuckhead) I thought what this girl had to say was actually quite reasonable. Not very surprising she got that kind of reaction from the crowd there though.
Someone give them their own island where they can feminise the shit out of eachother.
Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is slut walk? I keep hearing it's a bad thing, but the idea of it seems pretty respectable
I must admit that I find the speakers fairly laughable ("my vagina's country"... what?), but I don't think their handling of sign was disrespectful or wrong at all.
Obviously (at least according to the shown clip) the article is some terrible stuff.
There's a stillness in the air. *sniff sniff* This here's Vagina Country.
Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is slut walk? I keep hearing it's a bad thing, but the idea of it seems pretty respectable
Because while the idea is respectable the people representing the movement are people like the ones in the video who act like unlikable condescending assholes.
Basically it feels like people who turn a deaf ear to criticism/judgement and hide behind some form of cause to avoid being blamed for anything.

so the vlogging girl got silenced by the "slut walkers", right?

You keep hearing bad things because people are scared of the spoopy feminists.
A slutwalk is an event where men and women march to protest rape culture. More specifically, the idea that "you were wearing revealing clothing so obviously you wanted it". The first slutwalk occurred in Toronto after a police constable promoted "not dressing like a slut" as a precaution against rape.

IMO she wasn't. "Rape culture doesn't exist in the west" is basically applying the "there are starving kids in africa so eat your vegetables" logic to the kind of societal attitudes that make being a rape victim so shitty.

What is rape culture anyway? Is it the way a man gets high fived if he manages to get laid? What does this have to do with rape? It doesn't glorify raping women at all.
Try walking down the streets telling people how you raped a girl last night and see how many people will give you a high five.
For the point that women who sleep around a lot are called sluts while men who sleep around a lot are congratulated for it:
For men to have sex they have to take the initiative, approach a girl who might not like them, and do all kinds of stuff.
For women to have sex they just have to sit in a bar and get approached, which won't take long.
Men get congratulated for essentially winning a game.

Someone should fix this up.
How come most modern feminists are either ugly or fat or both? I thought that was just a dumb stereotype. On the other hand the girl reporting on this is just beautiful.
This feminism and PC shit really needs to stop, it's killing free speech and I don't wanna know what the future will be like in 15-20 years when this feminist generation manages to have babies.

Rape culture is essentially victim blaming rape victims, usually because they were dressing skimpily and therefore "deserved it"
at least that's how I hear it.

Yeah but no one does that other then dumb old men or idiots
Honestly what would offend me would be seeing the poem women in a short skirt
Also was that last girl going on about how she shouldn't be insulted if she has 3 kids from 3 different men? Like what? Insulting someone for that isn't rape culture
Yeah but no one does that other then dumb old men or idiots

Yeah, but some of these "dumb old men" and "idiots" are important people like police constables
Police Constable Michael Sanguinetti had been giving a talk on health and safety to a group of students at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto when he made the now infamous remarks.
"You know, I think we're beating around the bush here," he reportedly told them. "I've been told I'm not supposed to say this - however, women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimised."
And that's not even getting started with the people who don't understand consent etc
Yeah, but some of these "dumb old men" and "idiots" are important people like police constables

And judging by the backlash he received for it you think there is a whole culture supporting it? Even your quote said "I've been told I'm not supposed to say this". It is just a bad apple. You can't judge all police constables just because one of them said this.
Otherwise we could go the other way around and say how all feminists are hating men and want them to be killed just because one feminist blogger is insane.
Or how about that all black people are criminals because the prisons are mostly filled by them.
See what I am trying to tell you?

So some old men and complete idiots who think that a woman deserved it when she got raped if she had skimpy clothes happen to have some kind of position of power and it's nationwide rape culture?
Men get congratulated for essentially winning a game.
There's that, but I have found out myself that a lot of women likewise do not like a man who has had multiple partners.
The difference being however is a majority of women are not vocal about it. Unlike a man who will often refer to someone as a slut/sleaze quite casually.

Yeah but what is rape culture? Can you define it and give examples of it in America since its apparently a major and widespread issue?

"don't get drunk with strangers"
"ARE YOU TRYING TO TELL ME IF I GET RAPED IT'S MY FAULT???"
[editline]13th June 2015[/editline]
it's essentially the normalization of rape in society. these women are saying that rape has become so widespread, that it's become an accepted behavior.
"don't get drunk with strangers"

Wait if I say "don't get drunk with strangers" that means I'm ok with rape/etc and I think it's the victim's fault if something happens to them?

If rape is an accepted behaviour, how come it is still illegal to rape?
Or do they mean their own definition of rape?
If you define rape as broad as being touched without asking, you end up with statistics claiming that 1 of 5 women are being raped on college campus.

that is the mindset of these "feminists", yes.

Places like Sweden end up having measures where they count even being glanced at as part of their Sexual Assault definition.
why don't you guys just search it up and read about rape culture rather than just keep saying
"uh yeah but like what IS rape culture? cos i can't tell people that i totally raped someone last night so like it can't be real!"

plus what does the lady expect holding up a sign like that at an anti-rape conference? she's doing some westboro baptist shit right there.
she totally doesn't deserve the online harassment and shit tho, that's fuckt.
[editline]14th June 2015[/editline]
like even just looking at the traditional gender roles of dominant male and passive female you can see that there's room for some fuckt shit going on

Jesus Christ. That first source reads like a schizophrenic's journal on how the dystopian world is out to get him. I don't know what sick, strange planet these people live on, but the one I'm living on definitely doesn't conspire to commit "emotional terrorism" and normalize rape.
I mean, just look at this shit. Apparently, quote, "kids who call losing a sports game “getting totally raped.” " is a part of, quote "a complex set of beliefs that encourage male sexual aggression and supports violence against women".
Rape culture includes jokes, TV, music, advertising, legal jargon, laws, words and imagery, that make violence against women and sexual coercion seem so normal that people believe that rape is inevitable.
...explains how rape culture is the images, language, laws and other everyday phenomena that we see and hear everyday that validate and perpetuate rape.
Most people are opposed to violence against women
Most people are against sexism in the workplace
Most people are against rape.
Rape Jokes don't encourage or condone rape.
Practically nobody is perpetuating rape. Rape is a crime. Being a rapist will make you an outcast.
All of this is pretty stupid. If this is Rape Culture than its hardly a problem. You could reasonably use Stuebenvilles horrific story to push that but thats just happened because of Americas sports culture. Athletes can get away with all kinds of disgusting shit.
In a rape culture both men and women assume that sexual violence is a fact of life, inevitable as death or taxes. This violence, however, is neither biologically nor divinely ordained. Much of what we accept as inevitable is in fact the expression of values and attitudes that can change.
Society hates sexual violence. Murder in a society is inevitable but I don't say that we have a murder-culture. Honestly, using your standards I could create a narrative where society hates men
