Wow that reminded me of the pokemon movie with mewtwo at the end of the movie where all the dark pokemons started to fly up and away.
If you're wondering how this was done, the single player commands mod has a command that makes all air tiles act like water, so creatures will mythically float high up into the sky.
My guess is he bound it to a key, then used the no hud key to cover it up.

You are correct sir! You can actually see the "water splash" when the command is turned on.
