Props for not using one of the same 3 songs every Vietnam oriented thing uses.
I like what I see.
kind of a shitty trailer, i wish they'd shown what's actually great about the red orchestra format - its tension

My coworker and I were taking bets on whether it'd be Fortunate Son or Paint it Black.
I was hoping for fresh new animations and voices.. but okay I guess. It's still alpha, so there's still time.
Interesting. I would've thought they'd have gone for mostly M14s for the Americans, and mostly SKSs for the NVA and Viet Cong, you know, to tie into their balancing of the WW2 era games. Interesting to see how the gameplay works out for this if all the rifleman are going to be full-auto capable.

They've done a complete rebalance on automatic weapons to make short bursts the only reasonable way to use them by completely rethinking the animations.

That should really help to even things out.

It seems they are still using the same voices for US as in Rising Storm though. Was hoping we would get more Vietnam oriented voices.
Normally I'm not that much of a graphics snob, but those character models are atrocious. It's only early alpha though so they certainly have time to improve things.
Not giving tripwire any money after the early access microtransactions in killing floor 2.
shame, I was kinda looking forward to this.
The M16 firing at :30. Why did it sound so different? It sounded like a suppressor sound effect or something. All the other M16's in the trailer sounded way different.
Looks like Viet-fun.

Looks like the suppressive fire mechanic kicking in. When you get suppressed in RO the screen gets heavily desaturated and audio distorts. Or it could just be oversight when making the trailer.
Color me surprised, I thought that ERDL camouflage (0:39) was an anachronism, but no, it fits the era. Strange to see a camouflage other than Tiger Stripe in a Vietnam era game.
Looks fun, I just hope the teams are as balanced this time. The flamethrower was just plain brutal in RS1. And everyone would just say knee-mortars were just as good but that's pretty bullshit, you need way more skill to use knee mortar even closely as effectively as a flamethrower burst.

It's probably because it's early alpha. They most likely haven't touched most things audio related and are using old stuff as placeholders.
Looking forward to cutting down capitalist pigs with a proper AK-47

If anything, the flamethrower requires more skill - you gotta get close which in a game featuring primarily one-hit-kills and relatively open combat areas is a difficult task alone in most situations.
The knee-mortar takes less skill - if you can follow the trajectory (that it literally displays for you) and get it at a point you know there are enemies, fire and you've more than likely got at least a kill, and more than likely from a position they, if anyone, couldn't engage you from.
Anyway, is this what In-Country: Vietnam became?
Honestly I don't think the fact most players will have automatic weapons will make much of a difference. You already had plenty of S/A rifles, LMGs, HMG emplacements and SMGs floating around in RO/RS, I imagine it'll only really effect close-quarters.
I hope they update the communications structure. Something like Squad or PR, where you can speak to all members of your squad, and speak to anyone on your team with local directional voice would be ideal - plenty of times you spot someone on a flank but are unable to effectively communicate it before they kill some of the guys around you, and unit cohesion in general was non-existent.

Eh I'm not too happy to see it. ERDL was a very limited issue camo. Mostly SEALS got the stuff.

Did you boycott Valve after they added Mann-Conomy to TF2?

ERDL was adopted by the Marines in 1968, but it took a while for it to get widespread. By 1972, it was pretty common among regular troops.

Can't find any pictures of Marines with ERDL during the Battle of Hue, though

I don't think they're trying to be as super authentic as possible. I mean RO2 got a MG42 added to it. But in Rising Storm they had a couple different outfits depending on the map, so who knows.

MG42 was used in Stalingrad, though in a lot more limited numbers than the MG34. The MKB42 on the other hand...
The game looks way too bright tho.
You know what, I'm not even gonna discuss the trailer. An RO-quality multiplayer shooter set in vietnam? Just count me in.
So another Red Orchestra, with some changed skins and new maps. Wow
Hopefully they don't use punkbuster again. That shitty excuse for an anti cheat makes it impossible for me to play the game
