...why is Vergil there? I don't recall him being a part of DMC 4, but the voice is definitely Vergil. It's not Nero, the costume and hairstyle are wrong.
Hopefully, it means they're adding him as a playable character. Which would be awesome.

Isn't it obvious? They're adding something that has to do with Vergil. If I'm not mistaken Nero is the illegitimate son of Vergil? Or was that just fan speculation.

I think that was confirmed by a writer (or Itsuno). And even if it wasn't, it's pretty obvious.

It was something alluded to in the novels or something like that, but it was questionably canon; the game itself just doesn't answer the question at all and leaves tons of vague implications around. I don't remember all the details. I doubt this Vergil will be fully-featured in terms of content, though, just like in DMC3.
Now this a surprise, can't wait to see most badass character in action again!

Are we sure they can handle a task like this now? I'm kinda worried that he'll suddenly [sp]abandon his dislike of guns and shoot a pregnant woman or something[/sp] :v:
I don't get the massive hate DMC : Devil May Cry got really i mean as a prequel it's not........bad it does have some issues ( dull weapons and lack of choice ) not to mention the abrupt ending but it wasn't no where near as bad as DMC2 it's issue is DMC3 pisses all over it as a prequel.

Its not a prequel.

Also everything is edgy as fuck.

It's not a prequel, it was an attempt at an outsourced reboot because Capcom thought Ninja Theory was hot shit that they had to change into an alternate universe once the backlash came out. The game itself is alright, the story is atrocious and the fans that hate the game don't give a shit what merits it has. It's effectively a textbook example of how not to treat a fanbase or a franchise that is well-received.
Uncle Dante in HD, oh god I cannot wait.
I hope the PC port is as good as the original version was, DMC4 runs like fucking butter, it's fantastic.

The writing was garbage at every single point, the main characters were the single most unlikable characters in the entirety of video game history having been drained of any charm they had left, it did nothing better than any of the other games in the series really and overall was incredibly offensive. I mean someone fucking shoots [sp]a pregnant woman and then someone else brags about it![/sp] There is basically nothing redeemable about the game

If they had just named it something else and renamed all the characters, it would be a 6/10 game, but they had to go and tack on some bullshit about it being related to DMC.

I didn't see PC under the listed platforms, and the link in the video sends you to a webpage with the same damn video on it. Capcom, don't you fucking keep your crazy from me. I really don't want to have to play this on the ONE.

Someone remind me why exactly Capcom felt 4 was a failure again? i mean what merited it being rebooted in the first place? they had so much room for story and expansion after 4 anyway.

It was the best-selling game of the series, it was well-received alongside DMC3 (which suffered some sales issues due to both DMC2 and the original release's downright brutal difficulty that the Special Edition mostly fixed), and it was pretty much the peak of the series in everyone's eyes. Hell, the console versions alone beat 2.9 million sales overall, although Capcom blames low sales for the PC version on pirates as per expectation.
I think it's less a 'failure' to them and more the execs not knowing what to do with it much like not knowing what to do with Mega Man. But outsourcing to American devs was popular, especially with Capcom at that period of time, so they handed off the series to Ninja Theory. It wasn't really an experiment that paid off, obviously, but they tried to shift the blame off onto marketing, their own outsourcing, and the 'delayed response to the expanding digital contents market'.
tl;dr Capcom doing stupid stuff as per usual nowadays.

Actually it's just that capcom execs were expecting the game to sell about twice as much as it did, which was a completely insane number back then and still is now considering how niche the character action genre is.
Basically it was the best selling game in the entire franchise but because it didn't meet with completely artificial and unrealistic sales numbers it was deemed a failure and the licence got shelved for quite some time. Pretty reminiscent of Obsidian getting fucked over by Bethesda over that one percent on metacritic.

To me, it's more extremely reminiscent of the exact same shit Square-Enix is doing. Hitman: Absolution is one thing, that alienated a lot of fans with the streamlining, but Tomb Raider was a pretty decent sales success. Didn't meet Square's absurdly high quota, though, which explains why the follow-up is published by Microsoft instead of S-E. These companies expect these franchise reboots, outsourced titles and overall re-imaginings to sell off of name alone, and underestimate both bad reputation on the net as well as word of mouth every time. [sp]and actual game quality, but that's a different topic altogether[/sp]

I thought it was pretty obvious when [sp]Dante let Nero keep Yamato, saying "it has to stay in the family".[/sp]
If they're re-doing it to include Vergil, does that mean they're actually going back to the original DMC storyline and ditching the new "edgy" dmc? Maybe even continuing the original storyline? Because if so I am all for it.

it's DMC4 special edition why are you worried about it having anything to do with that DMC?

With both DmC and DMC4 being rereleased and being updated, they're definitely getting all their moneys worth out of these games before they start work on the next one. If 4 sells better, they make 5. If DmC sells better, they'll make a sequel to that. Either way, we wil.

They really just don't know what to do with the series at this point because of the 2nd game, which kinda wrenched all the later ones. I mean [sp]if dante dies/is trapped in hell forever in the 2nd game they only have two options really - prequels or a game set with dante trapped in hell. Sure enough 3 was a prequel to 1 and 4 was in between 1 and 2 so figure that shit out. They have no idea what to do with the series because going earlier than 3 would be really bizarre and any other game would just be jammed between 1 and 2 like 4 was. Hell, that's what the animated series was too, it was jammed between 1 and 4.[/sp]
Does this feature Dante from the Devil May Cry series?

Or have Dante figure out a way out of Hell because he's fucking Dante.

And it would provide a fun setting for Dante to explore
DmC: Devil May Cry was Dante's experience in hell.
