Green Day's 45 minute set is cut to 25 minutes by iHeartRadio to make more room for Rihanna and Usher [Usher's set went 20 minutes longer than it was meant to] so Billie Joe armstrong stops halfway through Basket Case to play a new song only to realise that they have 1 minute left on the stage. He gets angry and complains before smashing his guitar and flipping the camera off during Green Days set at i Heart Radio music festival in Las Vegas. Guys, If you watch the interviews before the performance* Green Day say that they are looking forward to the i Heart Radio festival. How would you feel if you were playing a show that you would have been looking forward to and another artist goes 20 minutes into your time and then they just tell you to get off the stage when you're halfway through playing a song? Armstrong had every right to be pissed. He went a little overboard about it, but he's right.
Although I don't listen to their music anymore, good for him not putting up with that bullshit. They write and play their own songs, but then they get played around with in the schedule DURING the show to make more room for other artists, and ones who are playing pre-recorded music and usually lip-syncing, they need to respect the bands they hire who are always expecting the schedule they got prepared for to stay the same.
ok now I love GD props for them.
I've never listened to Green Day but that seems like a reasonable reaction to a literally last minute change to the schedule.
That's so much shit. Why'd they let Usher go for 20 minutes longer?
he has a right to be upset and it was fucking hilarious
I love how iHeartRadio spun it off http://festival.iheart.com/go/iheartradio-music-festival/article.html?feed=463023&article=10437911
I'd feel exactly the same as he did. Someone going over their allocated time and the organisers doing nothing about it shouldn't be to his band's detriment. Fuck that, that's not fair at all.
"Fucking" Anywho, on topic, that is total bullshit, it shows how much shit has changed ever since, and its even more messed up how they got fucked over for a couple of mediocre artists.
What gives Usher the fucking right to get an extra 25 minutes, that's bullshit.
Now I haven't listened to Green Day since I was around, 11ish, but this is pretty kick ass of them.
I think I might get back into Green Day now.
What an immature little shit
"Fuck." But seriously that that was some bullshit.
Good on them for properly sticking it to the organizers. Although I'm not that much of a fan I think it's good they didn't just take this like a bitch.
I don't know why he decided to play for iheartradio in the first place, they have a pretty considerable history of fucking anyone and everyone who works with them.
If anyone should've been cut short, it should've been Usher.
They were great when I saw them during the Pop Disaster tour, now I have to go to another one.

I think that one shot of the discarded guitar near the end sums up the event fairly well
Just watched the rest of the performance and it's kind of understandable. Pretty sure he was drunk off his ass. I think they did it to limit the amount of times he said fuck and to get him off stage. Bullshit call? Sure, but it's reasonable.
I like that man. He's to the point and he smashes things for fun. He also makes judicious use of the word fuck. There aren't enough high fives in the world.
That seemed reasonable to me, really. Pretty dang insulting to cut the guy off.
he sounds drunk as shit
Classy.
I'm no fan of green day, but that was good to see
Lol rage quit.
The way he says fucking puts me off for some reason.
The way he says fucking puts me off for some reason.
It's not so much the way he says "fucking", it's the fact that he said it so frequently. Sure, he was pissed, but throw a few "shits" in there for good measure. Hell, put in a "bitch" while you're at it to spice it up. In all seriousness, though, that schedule change was utter bullshit. I'd be really pissed too if I were in his position. "oh yeah we're just gonna cut you off at the last minute so that usher can have 20 extra minutes it's completely fine don't worry about it". Give me a break.
Green Day is probably one of the best bands I have seen live, they really know how to get the crowd going. Why the fuck do they get cut short for Usher.
Gotta respect him for that even though I stopped listening to Greenday when they stopped writing songs about wanking and getting high.
