He's said on multiple occasions that he hates it because people kept coming to his channel and demanding that he does more of it and he just wants to do his own thing.
At the height of it there were tons of comments on his videos saying stuff along the lines of 'what is this shit do more harlem shake this shit is dumb'.
I feel kinda bad for him in that respect since he didn't want to start something like that and he was just barraged with people asking for more.
