Brb gonna go play the entire series again.
pretty damn well made
Not one tear- but two- fell from my eyes while watching this. Thank you for sharing it. I'll give it another playthrough.
I thought this was going to be one of those poorly written videos.
Where did the voice over come from?
Also i just realized something after how many years now of playing through half life...
Barny gave us a fucking CROWBAR to go fight the heavily armed combine! thanks dick, yea leme just run up to them and smack them in the face a few times as they fill me with bullets. Its one thing to find the crowbar and utilize it as a weapon but for some one to give it to you, and expect you to fight heavily armed combine?? fucking Barny.
A game to mark a generation of gamers, to set the path on great singleplayer storytelling and interesting game mechanics.
Even now, games still try to "be more like half life 2", as Yahtzee said in one review.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - The Dead Flag Blues

I fucking love Godspeed You Black Emperor and the music made the video really awesome, but I felt like it could have been done so much better. The camera panning at the first half seemed way too fast for how the music was and all the shots later on also seemed a bit too fast-paced for the music. Some slow-motion would have really helped. Oh, and that jump in the music in the middle was way too obvious and sudden.
The Left 4 Dead corpse models are a nice touch. Very effective at making the whole thing seem even sillier.

This is so much better:
Never noticed how well that song fits Half-Life.
Yeah, the lyrics seem to fit all over the storyline.
I realize how well the song fits, but that video wasn't very good
I didn't like the Half-Life series and I never will

We don't really need to know this kind of stuff, guys.
I wouldn't go as far as to say this video was well made; it actually had some bad writing and the editing was very rough. It was an enjoyable video though.

What a shame. It's your opinion though.
I honestly thought the song fit the Fallout series better, but this is pretty good.
astonishing, you people would glorify anything if it involves half-life 2 even if it was such a poorly done video just because it had powerful words that relate to the storyline in it
Or because of the good music.
I often ask myself why I haven't played through all of the Half-Life games when I own them. I guess its time to fix that.
Damn, if this didn't have that Episode One ending spoiler I'd use this as a trailer on a friend I know who hasn't tried HL2 yet.
I just replayed Half-Life, actually, and was debating on whether I wanted to replay the HL2s as well...guess this cements it then. It's just such a shame that HL2 on PC got a bunch of broken NPC choreography after they shifted it to the OB engine; it really ruins the feel when you notice things different from the way you remember it. The 360 version is the only one that still works right.
damn this really makes me want to play half life 3 now

wanna play coop?

yeah i was mislead by the people praising it then i actually watched it and holy shit that was not a good video

Don't get me wrong, the video was crap, but the way the lyrics fit was great.

Actually, even though it wasn't a great video, the whole thing was loved because of how much we love Half-Life. I used to think that I loved to play video games, but then I realised that I've never ever played anything as fun, or as powerful as half-life and it's actually only that series that I can play over and over again.
Well now that a few people have spoken against this I guess I'm gonna step up.
Everything in this video could have been done without even booting up hl2.exe. I could have downloaded several walkthroughs of the game and edit them all using Windows Movie Maker/Sony Vegas. The person who made this doesn't go out of the way to make anything really different.
People have done videos like this already. Yeah we get it. Half-Life is a good game. Yes, Gordon Freeman is Chuck Norris in a geek form. It's getting old.

why would you take the time to download several walkthroughs and watch them all looking for good parts to pick when it would be faster and easier to just record in game

I think he means that there's basically nothing new or interesting here. It's all pretty standard.

What was there not to like?
