Wow, that's amazing. It's awesome how much you can get done with config tweaks.
Edit:
I was mistaken, looks like it isn't a config tweak. I'm curious to know the technical details, but I can't find them anywhere.
im not sure how this is 'GTA4' like. I don't recall NPCs in 4 reacting like this. GTA5 by default is more realistic then 4

I've never seen any shot before, but those reactions makes it seem like they were hit by a paintball or BB not a bullet

Do bodies in real life consistently do that leg squirm if they are shot in the head? It seems a little over the top, but pretty cool. It actually makes it kind of gross to kill others.
I love the guy at 1:20 just freezing up as he falls over.
What the fuck it has the exit wound effect on headshots from RDR?
Cool as shit
Now if only the vehicle physics were fixed aswell
Looks worse. IV was always goofy and unrealistic.
Something about it feels off.
This doesn't look great, it looks like NPC reactions just involve them awkwardly walking upright for a few seconds before falling down, which looks especially bad when they get shot in the leg or something.
Feels kinda like euphoria from GTAIV mixed with the weightiness of the ragdolls from the new Hitman

so uh
whats your source on this?

You usually drop like a rock if your shot in the head, but I guess a few muscle spasms could happen. You won't make a running motion like in the video though I can guarantee that.

I can't say I find it better.
My problem is the NPCs seem to take it pretty well, most of them stay on their feet for a while before falling to the ground. I have no idea how realistic it is but the feet animation for the headshot seems something I would expect from Postal-style game.
I checked the video that compares the physics of GTA4 and GTA5 and the biggest thing GTA5 misses is the reaction of NPCs to getting shot in the legs. GTA5 simplifies it a lot. In other cases I found GTA5 reactions more real while GTA4's NPCs almost feel like robots trying to stay on their feet at all costs. It reminded me of those DARPA robots that get kicked and they try to adjust. I find it more real when a person getting hit square in the face drops to the ground like a sack of potatoes.

Sounds about what i would do if i got shot or punched nearly unconscious.
Max Payne 3 has the best implementation of Euphoria physics imho

Holy shit I asked for a script exactly like this when it came out on PC a year ago.
I'm so happy for this

good joke
It even showed the player walking (also with cars) towards NPC's, and pushing them gently forwards as the NPC balance on their feet, which by default is not possible in GTA5! :v:
Not to mention there is no "Beaten mode" in GTA5, and the "Drunken mode" (also known as "Physics mode") as I'm sure people remember toppling over sidewalks with Roman. Good fucking times.

I asked for this when it came out for the first time, on last-gen consoles like 4 years ago.

I suddenly want someone to break GTA's code to introduce the the weightless hamsterball collisions of simpsons hit and run

That is from a separate mod.

I've had that happen a couple times in this mod. I hit someone they curled into a ball and bounced.
Whenever he crashed on the motorcycle, it looked pretty lame. If you crashed going that speed irl, you would fly off and get destroyed.
[editline]28th March 2016[/editline]
I'm okay with the current physics engine, but I just wish you could wound people like you could in IV. If you take out somebody's legs in V, they die after like 5 seconds.

Looks more like Euphoria trying to make the character stand upright again but failing to get ground impact, so it just pedals the air.

I have fond memories of kicking milhouse off of that cliff for hours at a time
Fucking around with the physics in GTA IV was my favourite thing to do, seeing what they did with it in V was very disappointing for me.

I strongly disagree. The thing about this video is that he's unloading entire mags into guys to watch them flail around and get sent halfway across the room, which you really won't be doing much in actual gameplay.
When you're actually playing, you quickly notice there's about three different reactions that you'll see. Pistols and semi-automatic rifles make enemies stagger backwards a few steps, then fall over. Sometimes they'd stand still, sometimes they'd fall forward, but the general movements of their bodies were all very same-y. SMG's and assault rifles would usually make them stand in one spot while clutching where they were hit before falling over. Shotguns would usually fling people backwards, action movie style. I've become very familiar with these Euphoria behaviors through my many hours of replaying sections of MP3 on mute while listening to podcasts :v:.
I feel like Rockstar is losing the plot with Euphoria. When GTA IV hit, I felt like it was by far one of the coolest features I'd ever seen in a game, to watch an NPC react dynamically and on the fly to whatever forces were impacting them in the game, and to do it all in a fairly believable manner. RDR was a massive improvement that I felt made them look even better by kinda speeding up the movements, making them a little more springy and alive. Max Payne 3 came along and I felt like what we had was only a slight improvement over canned death animations. The only game that I felt handled it worse was GTAV.
Never thought I'd make a post this big about ragdoll behaviors but like I said, I think Euphoria is the hypest shit in video games and it kills me to see the one company who uses it on a regular basis mishandling it (imo)

the GTA IV sandbox was also lacking, but the fun physics carried it
the lack of them in GTA V made the singleplayer boring in the long run

no you don't actually
you only drop like a rock if the bullet severs the spine and the brain, which is instantaneous death followed by dropping like a rock
however if you are just shot in the general area of the head, or the brain, a lot of different reactions make occur as well as muscles spasms with varying intensity, you may very well make a running motion, all in all its a pretty accurate (although crude) representation to head trauma as far as game engines go
