Ever since the Zombie apocalypse things have been absolutely exceptional! - [sp] Telltale's Walking Dead Season 1, where art thou'? :-( [/sp] I've never read the comics but playing Telltale's interpretation of the Walking Dead felt like breath of fresh air, previously many other games just have you and a group of people kill hordes of zombies. In the Telltale version it focused the survivors actually trying to survive instead of going on a power fantasy of killing all the enemies in the room. I was just kind of hoping that the survival theme would've continued onto future games, but this trailer proved me wrong I suppose.. - Even though there is no gameplay, again..
I hope this is a more fun take on the apocalypse. Less sadness, and more dudes having fun murdering monsters. I'm also expecting a sick ass soundtrack.

Have you ever played any of Overkill's other games? Why would they get the developers of what's essentially a horde shooter to make a slow-paced survival game? [editline]a[/editline] If you want that kind of theme there's a good few other games out there that do that. [editline]a[/editline] Zombi is notable, ZombiU if you have that console.
So he's happy the mundane easy life where all that's expected of him is to answer his goddamn phone is over and that nearly everyone is dead and he can just walk around beating the shit outta stuff with a bat? Sounds like a perfectly sane character. :v:
I'm not necessarily sick of zombies, just the way they are usually presented in games. It gets really boring when its just endless hordes you mow down with ease. I'll love a game where the undead are seriously terrifying and you'll almost never want to fight them. Having huge hordes you have to carefully avoid, actually take your noise and smell into consideration and have to pray you have enough supplies to last you while you cower in 1 room, hoping they pass you by would be really awesome if done right. Plus, nail the sound and visual design, since you know zombies can potentially be spooky as shit. Only there aren't any games like that, because it'll require more creativity and hard work so instead, we resort to the same game over and over. Why not give us a reason the zombies took over the world and let us play in it. Zombies used to be the scariest dudes around, now they are almost comedy relief and it's gotten stale.
You could try Cataclysm: DDA if roguelikes are your thing.
I highly recommend Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead if you have a burning desire to grow an irrational fear of the letter "Z" colored green.
I highly recommend Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead if you have a burning desire to grow an irrational fear of the letter "Z" colored green.
Fucking Tank Drone! *WARNING: A LASER SIGHT IS TRAINED ON YOUR HEAD!* *YOU EXPLODE INTO GORE!* But yeah it's a very good game, but has a super steep learning curve. I've never survived longer than a day.
You could try Cataclysm: DDA if roguelikes are your thing.
I've tried it a few times and with some of the ambiance mods its getting close to what I want from what I can see, the only issue is I have no idea what I'm doing or what I need to do. I always end up lost, confused and quickly eaten alive, which is pretty close to what would happen to me in real life I guess.

Welcome to the Cataclysm: DDA where unless you have some instructions, you dont know what the hell you're doing, same shit happened to me in Dwarf Fortress to me for a while. I guess another Interesting game about Zombies is the Organ Trail, that is basically a zombie version of The Oregon trail. There's also Death Road To Canada, which always ends up with my characters either arguing with each other and dying by stupid reasons. Btw, Anybody remember The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct? No? yeah, me neither

The only way tension like this could be real was if the enemy was largely unavoidable oneshot kills, which is reffered to as 'artificial difficulty' in every other game. I understand the idea, but the audience this would be fun for is super small compared to co-op survival horror FPS/TPS.
It was actually kind of shocking to see an Overkill produced cutscene with decent looking human characters considering well [t]https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/payday/images/6/69/Totallynotstolen.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20150727004127[/t]
https://www.overkillsthewalkingdead.com/
OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead is a four player co-op action FPS, where you and your friends fight the dead as well as the living. Set in The Walking Dead Universe, you and your group tries to survive in a post-apocalyptic Washington D.C. Each character has their own Special Abilities, Skill Trees, Squad Roles, Play Styles and Story Arcs, but teamwork is paramount. The action is close-up and intense: take out enemies carefully with silent melee attack or go in guns blazing with your choice of each class firearms. You need to be able to improvise as nothing is certain and a horde of walkers is always right around the corner.
Story arcs and teamwork? Is there like a campaign version of the game where your friend might survive, but you won't so you have watch him finish out the campaign? Sounds like left for dead pretty much without special zombies, but instead human AI. Wonder if it's just friends vs AI or if there's pvp.
Eh, why not. Valve ain't releasing L4D3 soon (if not ever).

I think this mixed with the info they've given us makes it sound and look really cool. I'm looking forward to it.

Being very slow, and the infection mechanic made that mod/game very intense. Not knowing if any of those zombie attacks could infect you, and then trying your best to help the team progress before possibly dying (or getting put down). To me, I think zombie games work best as "horror survival" where you can die in 1-3 hits. While I love games like Resident Evil and Dead Rising, it always took me out of the experience when ever you would get bit but since it's a game we can't let the player turn into a zombie. (unless there's a plot reason)
Feels like we're a bit late in TWD's life cycle to get a four player horde zombie shooter I mean I welcome it, but TWD games have gone from masterpieces like Telltales Season 1, to experimental garbage fires like Survival Instinct, seems a little late to come out with a generic zombie shooter title.

Where did that business shithead look while phoning to hit the black dude like that. Did he have his eyes closed?

Early game the enemies will fucking destroy you and it is imperative you stealth kill them or just avoid them entirely.

Yeah if you want a game where you actually fear zombies, try NMRIH. (until you master it's combat, like being able to bash zombies at the correct time to technically become invincible)

You are simply trying to escape and survive. Every hit is potentially lethal because you can get infected, and it is not feasible to mow down everything because firearms and ammo are rare as fuck. [del]Also the firearms handling skills of your character is below average on most weapons. No seriously they suck. This is like one of the only times in a game where I legitimately think I could do better IRL[/del] Nevermind, looks like they updated some weapons and added a lot since I last played. The reload on the shotguns and empty reload on the 10/22 still looks awkward though :v: Also runner zombie spam in certain levels segments will fuck your shit up.
