The title doesn't seem to want to be fixed. Maybe it takes a while. I built a repeating rail gun and this is the smallest ship I could fit it into.
Sick as shiit. Makes me want the game even more. Is it as complicated as it looks?
damn i love your videos
must've taken an unholy amount of time to build but as counterpo0 said above, makes me want the game even more [editline]18th December 2013[/editline] just bought it lol
How on earth (in space) did you build that thing? I spent several hours trying to figure shit out and that seems to me an impossible thing to do with how the game is at this time. Fucking impressive though.
Uuuuug should I buy this
Does this game have MP yet? Because if so, then that's it. I'm buying it.

Motors can help to create gears to push a surface sideways, for a conveyor.
I can see you are battlestar galactica fan, using music from Philip glass in the first video and music from the show itself on the second.
You ain't got shit on this marvel of futuristic engineering. The railgun is cool, but from one of the shots the ship had a lot of empty space laying around.

The slugs are stored behind the tubes when the ship is moving, which requires the magazine to slide forward (this is so everything can lock into place and not smash through the walls when you accelerate). When everything is being packed up to fire is when you get empty space. [editline]18th December 2013[/editline] There's also the space that the magazine has to occupy after firing, seeing as it slides from one side of the ship to the other.
like this
That's freakin' awesome, and now makes perfect sense. I'd imagine that's what a rail-gun ship would look like in the future.
I absolutely love that Railgun sound
I'd imagine that's what a rail-gun ship would look like in the future.
It would look more like this..

I just realized, it would be a pain in the ass to actually line up shots for that.
like this
Okay, so I get what you mean by the rest of the schematic except the grav gen system. Is it a punch of down (relative to floor of spacecraft) grav gens and then a forward (along axis of fire) system right in the middle?
Why not a vertical magazine? Then you could have a bunch of railguns all lined up.
I absolutely love that Railgun sound
Thanks. I stole it from Natural Selection. [editline]19th December 2013[/editline]
Why not a vertical magazine? Then you could have a bunch of railguns all lined up.
You're right. I really don't want to build a new ship so I'll modify this one with them lined up vertically. I'll also redo the magazine so it only occupies a space of one block high.

Also, mk. 2 that shoots reactors with armor piercing tips?
When are you going to upload these amazing things to workshop? The mining ship and this. You got the attention of the devs on one the mining vid.
-snip- Thought this was the SE thread.
When are you going to upload these amazing things to workshop? The mining ship and this. You got the attention of the devs on one the mining vid.
When I get back from a BBQ today. I have too many chipolatas in my hands right now to operate the workshop.
Seeing a game like space engineers and you doing stuff like this makes me wish I had the skills to make my dream game A mostly open world multiplayer vehicle building game. But with the ability to fight on land, sea, air, and space. But use blocks and simple mechanisms and prefabs (but still be able to build neat contraptions). All very BK:N&B-esque since I love that games visual style Unfortunately I suck at modeling and texturing. And only suck slightly less at coding [editline]20th December 2013[/editline] oh here is an idea I want to play with for holding more ammo and quicker reloading: have a horizontal rack of several vertical magazines. Slide it a certain amount until it is over the firing channel and let it slide down through the use of a latch or motor or something. Fire all the shells and shove the mag out the bottom of the ship. Move the rack over again, repeat. Once the rack is empty pop it out the side of the ship or pull it back to a reloading zone so you can replace the mags
The only issue with re-loading is I can't copy and paste over a rock. If I could, I could place all of the stones in space and then paste the slug over it and the whole gun could be re-filled in about a minute. Instead I have to cut open each slug and float the rock into it and then re-cap it. Also I'm going through the saves right now to get the final version of each and stick them on the workshop.
