Saw these guys live a few months ago, they make for an awesome performance if you ever get the chance. They have live guitar and bass being trans coded (or what ever word) into 16 bit sounds. It's pretty slick.

I love Anamanaguchi but this song was utter shit.
Anamanaguchi was great when it was pure instrumental synth 16bit music and not electro-pop cacophonies, their last album didn't spark any interest in me at all.

I didn't really post this video because I liked it. I was just up way too late and on a chiptune kick and wondered if Anamanaguchi put anything good out recently, and then I remembered that awful Meow video. I saw this one and the imagery and cultural implications had me in stitches.
Chiptune has rather limited possibilities I will admit, but I can't find anything new that I like. Maybe I've just outgrown it and I only like Dawn Metropolis so much because of the nostalgia.

their last album was chiptune? They said the album they're working on now wont be chiptune but Endless Fantasy was definitely chiptune, it had maybe one or two songs with vocals.
What a weirdly timely thread. I've been listening to the old Anamanaguchi stuff lately. Mostly Dawn Metropolis and those singles that they put out in the Summer of 2010. I haven't looked up their most recent stuff, but that old stuff was great. I don't know how they work nowadays, but I remember they were so interesting because they would play real instruments alongside a Gameboy that was putting out the chiptune stuff live. It was great! I did a bunch of college work to the those Summer singles.
