This is ancient. Why did they upload it just now.
[T]https://i.imgur.com/V36PBJ5.png[/T] Wait, what?
I thought the name sounded familiar.
What the hell? Why was it reuploaded?
i hope i still have a chance to get a golden wrench
what the fuck they cancelled brotherhood of arms for this cartoon shit?
yeah why did Gearbox leave Brothers in Arms in the dust for Blunderborn
hey guys do you see the robot head in the background I think they're teasing something here
this was also reuploaded
hah :clickbait:
Oh shit you can see a new dispenser at the beginning
There's schematics for a robot hand in the background... a possible new weapon?
The Engineer update is still one of the best in my opinion. It basically laid the groundwork for TF2's entire story. Also the update pages were so cool with all those neat hidden pages. And Thunder Mountain was released as well, which is one of my favorite maps.
how did you not notice this was a reupload?
this was also reuploaded
wow back when TF2 had a consistent artstyle
OH SHIT I can't wait for this update! I hope he gets some balance, such as the ability to pick up buildings and crafting mini-sentries.
What the fuck's a mini-sentry? Sounds dumb. Picking up buildings would be OP, goes against the engineer's whole design of turtling the intel room in 2fort. Really hope there aren't any uphill payload maps in the update, though. They're the absolute worst.
wow back when TF2 had a consistent artstyle
back when the game was about two rival corporations that secretly control every government on the planet, rather than two manchildren fighting over shitholes in New Mexico.
the tf2 website still have a button linked to the old steam forums, jesus valve never surprise me
wow back when TF2 had a consistent artstyle
theme*
lol i remember getting so hyped for this update. hightower is still one of my fav maps
Before this update you couldn't move your buildings as an engineer. You had to destroy your level 3 sentry and painstakingly build one from scratch at a new location. Really changes the dynamic of the game, when you can build all of your buildings next to spawn and then carry them all the way across the map, to a desired spot. Also (when the update came out), finding spots on the map, you previously couldn't access, by firing rockets at your feet was really fun.
TF2's lore is a pretty good example of why you should err with severe caution when elaborating on a mysterious, vague setting. Expiration Date and the comics and stuff are cool, but they don't really capture the awesome feel of really, really early TF2 stuff. I remember being really disappointed in Meet the Pyro when it came out and was basically telling a single kinda-cheap gag and using a super famous pop-cultural licensed song on top of that. (I was about to just say 'licensed song,' but then I remembered Meet the Engineer uses a song by Wilco to great effect) Edit: And shit, Sniper uses the theme from Magnum Force, too. I wonder if they paid licensing fees for these or if they got away with it because they're only 'based on' these songs? Anyway, I guess it doesn't really work for Meet the Pyro for me because again, the point of it being there is to support this single joke the whole video is based around.
Expiration Date and the comics and stuff are cool, but they don't really capture the awesome feel of really, really early TF2 stuff.
Maybe that's something that happens when you don't have one person directing the development of a game. With a company like Valve, where people jump from one project to another, it's easy to see how ideas get jumbled into a big mess after a while.
I just remember the facepunch server, or whatever the one that a lot of regulars here played, just up and disappearing one day. Fun times.

I'd bet you anything they uploaded this because all the old tf2 videos were on the valve channel, not the tf2 channel
abandoned an old mystery.
Isnt that gray?
Isnt that gray?
I don't think so. In the comic that introduces Gray Mann, they don't know who he is.
Isnt that gray?
We don't really know, they never clarified. It'd be a bit weird for him to be there though, considering Zepheniah tried to smother Gray in his crib before he was stolen by Eagles.
I've sort of assumed that Valve had intended it to be Gray, but they ended up changing the story a bit later and so it wouldn't make much sense for it to be him. It could conceivably be used as a way for them to introduce a new Mann character, but at this point all the Manns (Menn?) we know about [sp]are dead, so it sort of seems like they're trying to close the book on the Mann family.[/sp] The best chance of that character being used is if The Administrator's big earth-shattering conspiracy involves a secret Mann character that we haven't seen before.
