This is a dream for me (disregarding what YouTube Red is/isn't). I love Michael and literally everything he makes.
I think this'll be the first YouTube Red show I will purchase. Michael really deserves some revenue for this, really good production value.
Holy Shit, [sp]that NASA experiement in the 80s is crazy. Her fucking bodily cycle stopped[/sp].
Hell, its shit like that why we need [sp]clocks and VR environments on board far reaching manned missions[/sp]
Link to that experiement.
Reminds me of an episode of The Twilight Zone where a man was put in an isolation booth for so long that he eventually hallucinated an entire town in his mind, desperate for human contact
That was really good.
[sp]Haven't finished this yet so I have no idea if Michael references it at all during the show.[/sp]
Can you buy just his show?
Or do you need the subscription?
I've been thinking through this episode [sp]especially about the circadian rhythm changes[/sp].
Suppose in the far future when we go to colonize other worlds [sp] with different day/night cycles other than Earth, we could slowly adjust our circadian rhythms on the way using artificial sunlight/etc. That way once we arrive, we won't have major rocket lag.[/sp]
If the episodes stay 30 minutes long I may consider paying for it.
i wish i could pay for this, but youtube is pretty bad as usual so it's not available in my country :/

Jesus Christ, it's not available anywhere in Europe. What sort of horrendous service is this? So there's nothing I can do except miss out? Do VPNs work here? Or will they not let me purchase the service because I would be using a card registered in Europe? This is so dumb.
EDIT: NVM! I don't know how I missed the link in the description, must've read too quick, whoops.
EDIT2: Doesn't seem like I can find the thing using the provided search function, maybe it isn't there for me?
The first experiment makes me wonder if the same mechanism is the thing that makes teens develop self harming behavior.
As much as I enjoyed it, I was getting bothered with the family drama stuff a little bit.
The show is great but $2 for an episode is waay too much.
i disagree, it seems about right. what would you have it be? we don't know how long the series is (at least i dont), but if each episode remains 30 minutes, 2 dollars seems fine for an episode. they do have to make money somehow, and 2 bucks really isnt that much
I think this is the first time ive seen Michaels wife.
I wish he explained what was going on in his mind at that moment where he was very confused.
I wish he explained what was going on in this mind at that moment where he was very confused.
From what I gathered I think he dreamed that he got out, so he was really confused as to why he was still there.
Then again I'm only working off two vague sentences: "I don't understand, I thought..." and "I guess not, I must have dreamed it"
This makes me wonder how a person with social anxiety/shut in would react to these conditions. Would it be better or worse for them?
[sp]aka me.[/sp]
[sp]I wish he told us what his dream was. I was really curious of what he dreamt to make him open the door to be sure."[/sp]
[sp]I wish he told us what his dream was. I was really curious of what he dreamt to make him open the door to be sure."[/sp]
Really odd that they didn't elaborate on that. I just assumed [sp]he dreamt that they had already opened the door and let him out and finished the experiment.[/sp]
You can't spin your lies to me, Michael. I know what this video really is.

It's a thirty minute advertisement for Soylentâ„¢!
I always love how many parallels humans share with other animals, we look so ape like when studied like this (shock button as an example). It's incredible to think how animalistic we actually are.

It's a whole field of psychology - Evolutionary Psychology.
To be able to understand our evolutionary roots and similarities with animals (might be a bit more comparative than evolutionary psychology) is a really important part in trying to understand ourselves.
Wonder what color the Soylent was. Could've maybe used it for paints.

Hopefully it wasn't green.
This was really fucking scary
There's also this guy...

Also if this shit interests you (like it does me), watch Altered States. It goes downhill heavily in the second half, but it is still a cool scifi movie about sensory deprivation.
that experiment gave me an idea for an experiment.
you have 2 people in separate rooms, the puzzle room and the button room, you tell them they will be in the room for 1 to 3 days, up to the assessors as to when they get let out. they dont know there is another person, they think there is only one room. however they wont be let out until 3 days is up. each room has another locked door with an initially red indicator above it.
in the puzzle room a person is given a monotonous task to do that takes several hours, but when done a button in the button room will light up. when they push the button the light goes out but does nothing apparent for them. in the puzzle room it lights up an indicator above the door which then unlocks for them. behind this door is another door with an indicator above it, and another behind that and so on. once all the doors are open there is a hallway which leads to the button room.
they can leave at any point but will never know what is behind the door unless they stick it out long enough to get all the doors open.
i dont know what the point of the experiment would be.

Congratulations, you've just earned an honourary degree in behavioural psychology.
