Irrelevant. The fact that some muslims (majority or minority, again, irrelevant) don't follow it to the letter doesn't clear the Islam as a teaching from its bullshit. A lot of Christians are smart, despite religion propagating extreme ignorance as one of the highest virtues, which is degenerate.

It's because the countries are backward as fuck
Religion has been used as an excuse throughout history to subjugate people, be it islam, christianity, hinduism. The deciding factor in how badly people are treated there is the society as a whole, economy, and so on.
I'm not supporting islam, but to focus the attention and blame on the religion is missing the real issue and can easily lead to justification of hating Muslims simply because they're Muslims.
