What a well thought out and educated PSA. I hope we can all work together to ban self defense!

Or we could ban all guns and have world peace
using the zimmerman shit was dumb but we could all do with less guns tbh
the "stand your ground" laws can be necessary though
Or we could ban all guns and have world peace
how do you enforce a no-gun policy?
people with guns coming to take yours
you don't go against a guy with a gun without having one of your own
I fucking hate the people that make these ads, people like Trayvon died because they were shitty people causing harm, they aren't victims.

woah, calm down you didn't know him personally
To be honest, I do agree that we could do with less guns. However, I don't think the appropriate time to voluntarily forfeit our right to bare arms is when our government is busy involuntarily yanking our other rights.

this is a response to someone's post, not the video
woah, calm down you didn't know him personally
I don't need to know him to know that he beat the shit out of George. He isn't that cute little 12 year old that just wanted his skittles that everyone portrays him to be.
How about we stand up to victim blaming and turning people who were really to blame into martyrs with a cult of personality that insists on ignoring any fault on their part.
Pffftt RACIST!
I don't need to know him to know that he beat the shit out of George. He isn't that cute little 12 year old that just wanted his skittles that everyone portrays him to be.
true, but you do infact need at least a video of the incident to make this conclusion yourself
i know, he most likely did do all of that but you're talking in finals when this whole case has been built on the "evidence" not being final at all
How about we stand up to victim blaming and turning people who were really to blame into martyrs with a cult of personality that insists on ignoring any fault on their part.
yes exactly I'm tired of that happening with zimmerman
"our laws should protect victims, not create more"
that's the whole point of stand your ground.
it expands a victim's right to defend themself
you don't go against a guy with a gun without having one of your own
make genhanced super soldiers with psychic powers
While I don't disagree that it does happen, I don't think it's been so severe with the Georgie crowd that they've lynched people yet.
Neither side is that severe
I didn't understand what was this ad trying to convey. Probably makes it a bad ad.
woah, calm down you didn't know him personally
cool
neither did the people that made a huge shitty deal about it when they didn't know anything about the case
[editline]20th August 2013[/editline]
it turned into "He's black so he's innocent its all racism"
[editline]20th August 2013[/editline]
Screw trayvon AND Zimmerman supporters who aren't involved with those two directly

So Rodney king supporters are wrong for wanting police brutality to stop, because they aren't related to him in some way?
Are Martin Luther King supporters wrong simply because they didn't know who he was personally?
If the only people who could talk about incidents like this were the family members, we would get nowhere
Jinx you really need to think before you post, your thoughts are not always the final truth

I think its bullshit because they turned something that likely happens way more than people think into something massive and labeled it a "Culture changing moment in history" and turned it purely in a race debate when it shouldn't have been, and the media is still grabbing at it for views.
Just because you say Zimmerman is guilty or innocent without knowing THE FACTS doesn't change what the court is going to say. Thats what people wanted to do. They jumped in based on race when it wasn't about race. People acted like a white man shot a black kid for being black. As if somehow racism somehow can't also go both ways.
that being said hey whatever, support it, but I just wish the media didn't make it way larger than it truly was.
if I ever get shot and live, I would be seriously pissed off if the media made it a huge race debate. If I died well I really couldn't care because I'm dead so, theres that.
Hell, if I was a multibillionaire I'd probably avoid the media. Just look at what they did to Michael Jackson. People demonized him without any proof at all of his accused "pedophila". It's really sad the treatment Zimmerman got. Even if he killed the kid in cold blood he doesn't deserve death threats and shit.
I see what you mean. But the debate is what helps us in the end, if we don't have this race debate people won't change their minds about the issue, if everyone shut up about this most people wouldn't really be aware of it at all, but since they do, we're working to valid options to actively stop it.
the whole problem in the first place is the fear of not wanting to talk about it, when you get people talking about the issues we subconsciously come up with our own merits and see things differently with other opinions, hopefully changing our outlook for the better, like what happened with Rodney and MLK

The best you can do is the Morgan Freeman defense and make racists sound and look really stupid and ignorant, because that's exactly what they are.
Race is not an issue, racist thoughts and people are.

Predator drones.
why are we still on trayvon, and this gun crap, while NSA and plenty of other shit is basically wiring themselves into your computers and daily lives?

Surprisingly, I actually had that exact mind set and it's quite good. Though, it's bound to happen that the people who are racist now will still inherit it onto their children. It's the sad truth we'll always find ways to not like each other.
I just found the talking about it with no hostility is what matters, because passion will always feed into anger.
Not talking about it makes us fester solely on what we know, and for the people who are racist now that would be terrible, because you know they're going to exaggerate their beliefs having only heard their own (I don't know if that sounded right)
