Nah, gastrephetes have a relatively large movable part. This work similar a a crossbow in that only the string is pulled.

By definition it's not a crossbow. If it has no prod then it's not a crossbow. This would fall more in line with a Scorpion if anything, though it's elastic powered not torsion powered
Slingshots can shoot darts as well, this is just a unique method of using a slingshot to fire dart-like projectile.
Isn't this still considered a slingshot seeing as it's powered by elastic strings and not the torque of the outriggers?

whatever you call the ends on yer bows. I thought that to be a bow you had to actually have a flexing thinger be the source of propulsion for the projectile rather than an elastic.
