If only my grandma would be interested in computers.
Wow, 100.
Achievement unlocked

My great gran is 104 and still alive and healthy.
Computers are great inventions of the older age, since it require not a lot of energy and you can do a lot of things.

Too bad most of them can't grasp the concept of copy and paste. :geno:
Hmmm.. That stinks- first computer an ipad?

really kinda sets the bar low for anything else she goes on
Now when she gets a real computer she will be totally amazed.

I'm over 900 years old and am a time traveler.
(No, I did not mean Over 9000. I actually meant 900)

Shit dude. Those crusades were badass, no?
for a person who has only just got a her first computer she seems to know quite alot about them.

Oh shut up, you're just trying to bash the iPad without actual grounds for it.
It was a choice of a huge, complicated, blinking set of unreadable boxes or a simplistic, limited piece of quartz that can do what this lady needs without being cumbersome to her like a 'high bar' PC would. I tried to teach my own grandmother computer usage (PC) and believe me, she'd be much less afraid of an iPad than she is of the PC I've given her.
But no, who cares about usability, apple sucks hurr

She's 100 years old dude. You honestly think she'll benefit from an i7 processor and some blazing fast GPU?
She writes limericks and reads books, so the interface seems perfect for someone like her. It also helps that it's a small device, as opposed to a laptop or desktop.
Don't expect to see her on Counter-Strike any time soon.
I wonder how much apple paid her haha.
I always see all those senile seniors wandering aimlessly or watching TW.
When (if) I get to be a senior and gonna be at least A BIT able to, I will blast on computer all day, even if I had to play casuals due to slow reflexes and poor vision.

I'll be just like her:

It's odd to think that when she was born, nobody would've even imagined anything like an ipad.

And the fact that not even 30 years ago, sci-fi envisioned just such things as the iPod Touch. Music, games, videos, and instant wireless connection to a global information network, all on a device with 3 buttons that fits in the palm of your hand? I think someone from the 90s would think that's futuristic.

maybe she'll enjoy crysis on 40fps
when my nan was around 80, i said to her, "nan... tell me the name of an old song you liked and i'll play it". her face lit up like a christmas tree when i brought her memories back of the old days. this was when WMplayer used to let you download songs and stream them before they were retards. i used to love showing my nan shit like that because she had no clue.
Is it just me, or does this look like a really subtle apple viral?

also considering there was very little of a music industry 100 years ago, let alone "games and videos"
This reminds me of teaching my Grandad how to use his desktop. He now browses online frequently and uploads pictures and emails them to me
Apple's gonna market the fuck out of this.

My 79 year old gym teacher's mother is 107 and swims a mile a day

Dumbs? Come on lads, surely this must be some sort of viral campaign?
They've done it before

Cool poem at the end :)
Well, an iPad is much easier to use than a computer, I can see why she bought it.
Now I wish my grandmother was still that mentally fit.
If she got a netbook she could have multi tasked and got more done in her years left.
This totally looks good for her back looking at the pose... Ohh apple... Make a product too heavy so that people will have to break their backs in order to use it...
This is totally appropriate for the elderly...
If I remember right, the iPad was designed to that people use them in a laid back position...
Unless you have the most fucked up chair of all time... This is not good at all for your back...
It's either:
- too heavy
- breaking your back because you are looking down on it.. (like the old lady in the vid)
- breaking your back (or something in that zone) because you don't have a good sitting position... (I'm talking about the pose Steve Jobs had in the iPad keynote)
Apple is obviously evil...
