I have to admit that I straight up commented "DURR PLANT" on that video IHE talks about.
This is basically what happens in LMAO Pics all of the time. Something gets posted, it gets edited and posted ironically, more layers of irony get added until you no longer even see the original or the idea of it and finally - the ironical post becomes a [I]meme[/I] on its own. Like I cannot even look at images with anything resembling 4 panels in fear of LOSS.

It could get creative with comics but in general its what you are describing. I remember the dad sitting on the sofa comics
