• A Clone at Home

I made another short film the other day. This girl figures out how to clone herself so she can play a board game with her friends and get her homework done, but there's a twist... Let me know what you guys think. I'm still pretty new at directing stuff.
My favorite part was 0:43-0:44.

Pretty cool. Might be Youtube, but the focus seemed off at times. The ISO seems off, too, but again that could just be Youtube fucking up the quality. When the girl searches on Google you could've focused more on her face, showing her reactions to what she's reading. Oh, and why fade to when she looks at the computer? Could've made a close-up shot of her face and cut to where she's going to type on the laptop, thus not breaking the 180-rule. Also when the girl comes in and is about to sit down you cut to the other side of the table, making the guy with the hat switch sides on the table. You could've done it differently and placed the camera between the two guys and one-shotted that sequence where she comes in and sits down and cut to the guy joking and whatnot when there's nothing going on on the other clip. When the clone is cloning herself for the first time there's too much space on the right side, make her be more in the golden ratio. In some of the shots it's too yellow. Inside light is usually not the best light source when it comes to filming. (Speaking out of experience.) When the original girl went out it's not clear enough that she's going in a car, so when she goes home and ends up in a car is kind of confusing to me, as the viewer. The sound is pretty good, especially the use of music. I liked that. Did you use the sound from the camera or did you use a microphone? The cloning effect is okay, could see the seam when the clones were entering the box, but that's to be expected, really. Good masking when OG (original girl) walked past the clones, don't know if you did, but you could feather out the masking a bit I think, again I don't know if you did, I'm just pointing out what I see. The story is pretty simple, but effective. But why did she lie down on the couch (Story-wise)? Didn't really seem logical to me at that point. Oh, well. Keep at it, you did a very good job nonetheless! Would definitely watch something from you again.

I was using a canon 60d, and I had never used one before, so I just sort of winged it with the manual settings. I was afraid the fade might throw some people off. The fade was to make up the time it took for her to realized what to type in. Otherwise she just sort of goes for it. Can you sort of see that? Mic is external, but it occasionally switches to the camera. She sat on the couch because she was exhausted like the other clones that gave up on the homework and went to relax. I could have made that more clear, and a lot of things like you mentioned, but being crunched on time, I can't get some shots perfect. Also it's hard for me to see what is perfect sometimes.
^Them words up there^
Yeah, you should try to think about the white balance next time as it's pretty yellow from time to time. I think I can sort of see it, but I don't think it works in film, I'm afraid. Just my opinion, though. I see. Seeing it again I can hear that. Try to use an external mic as much as possible, as camera mics aren't the best around, but you probably know that. Hm, yes. That makes sense, now that I think about it, you could've been a bit clear about it, still though. Anyway, you did a good job concidering your time limit, so you show some talent, and that's great. Keep at it!
