God I loved watching this as a kid, I'm so glad it back!
This makes the child in me very, very happy.
They should bring Robot Wars back here in the UK, With Craig Charles hosting again.......i wish!
There are a lot of people using Flamethrowers, was this ever banned in Battlebots or did they always allow Flamethrowers?

I can see it all coming back if this is successful enough. Craig was made for this sort of stuff.

boy do i want to believe

since grant imahara is out of a job, does that mean he's gonna go back on battlebots?
Somehow I just can't help but doubt the effectiveness of flamethrowers, no matter how cool they look.
Isn't that as effective as shooting a tank with flames?
heat still enters the vehicle through conduction, especially with metal surfaces. given enough time, it's plenty enough to fry the battery of a bot, or melt wiring etc.
I can't actually recall an instance where a flamethrower disabled a bot. I'm pretty sure they're mostly for show.
I wanna see the rule book of entering this competition.
Like, "no shotguns strapped to robots"

Also look at that fucking thumbnail of this video. They didn't review that killer for sure. And probably for a good reason.
Deadblow needs to make a come back

Does this make the man with the child in him sad that he isn't a child anymore?
It's bad but I want a third battle bots game more than the show back.
I wish I had time to get tickets for the finals last month.
Hopefully the robots are less regulated, and new robotics tech will let shit get really cray. The use of flamethrowers is a good sign.
I'm surprised it's taken this long for a revival, but happy nonetheless.
Does this make the man with the child in him sad that he isn't a child anymore?
Children make crappy robots, so probably not.

Sadly I doubt that it will. It got cancelled because some of the spinners (mainly Typhoon if I recall) could break the area walls and it was considered a health and safety hazard.
Just watched the whole video. The amount of power some of these things are pushing makes old battlebots look like toys. And Icewave... I'm pretty sure combustion engines weren't allowed before. I'm stupid hyped for this.

I'd love to see a no rules robot tournament, although it would probably eventually just come down to a quickdraw competition with a high caliber rifle attached to a tiny RC car or something.

People would just strap more metal to the front of their robots.

Partly yes, since i can't just look at it as "two robots beating the shit out of each other". But partly no because the kid in me wouldn't exactly begin to understand the nitty gritty if this sort of stuff.
Still, you have to keep in touch with your inner child, somehow. And Robot Combat has been missing for so bloody long. Just the improvements on the field of robotics is damn exciting to me.
Would be sick if they had a class for autonomous robots that were entirely AI controlled, since that's actually possible now.

Fucking have to bring back Deadblow because it was made by a little known guy at the time by the name of Grant fucking Imahara.
Can't wait to see Beta smash the top part of IceWave and make it explode or something
the deadblow website from 2000 was never taken down

Man it'd be real interesting to see someone try and make a robot with some form of an electromagnet since all the robots are made from metal, so instead of needing a big grabber you could just hit a button and boom its stuck to you.

Probably would be banned cause it would fuck with literally all the computer equipment and not be very entertaining to watch at all.
Lockjaw's engineer is the same Donald that built Disector, right? They look pretty much the same to me but they never mentioned him as a "returning" competitor. Disector and Ziggo were my favorites to watch during the original seasons so I'd be stoked if it really is the same guy.
Warhead can be seen in the video too.
I imagine the show has rules to block boring but overpowered designs like that.
Plus it's just fucking awesome watching 2 robots smash the shit out of each other!
